Halloween Party. Halloween Eve, 9:09 PM.
After 9 minutes and 55 seconds of screaming, moaning, and amusing suction, Kandy sauntered back into the bathroom and pulled out an alarm clock; 5 seconds left.
She pouted as she started to tear off her polished, yet somewhat sticky, green face.
As she gripped the edges of the crease, the loose flabs of green matter slowly gave way and morphed back into its default wooden texture. The layers of lime green material separated and allowed Katelyn's blonde still-moist hair to escape the confines of her scalp. On the front, the invasive tendrils unglued themselves from her ears, nose, eyes and mouth; giving Katelyn back her peachy colored face.
Katelyn yanked the remaining wooden fibers off with a pop; she was back in the bathroom in her nighties. She then immediately felt sore on the back of head; almost as if something vigorously rubbed the crown of her skull. She sought to quickly re-mask to dull the pain and get back outside to comfort Danny. She quickly re-enabled the FW feature, disabled the timer, and dived back into the inside of the two masks; no less than a minute after initially taking it off.
As soon as she placed the wooden interior towards her face, she noticed that the once lively tendrils weren't as possessively latching onto her compared to prior attempts. In fact, the tendrils that did approach her face weren't able to latch on and after a minute the masks defaulted back to their wooden form.
"The one god damn time I needed this thing to work..." She sighed to herself.
Katelyn was stuck. She needed to keep continuity and transform back to her "cosplay" before going back to check up on Danny. She placed the mask on a nearby countertop and started to fumble through the settings on the controller. On the controller, she noticed a number on the corner of its monochrome display tick up every few seconds; it was at 25% just two minutes after taking it off.
To kill some time, she put down the controller and rummaged through her purse to find her phone. Upon glancing at her phone, she saw a barrage of texts from her new friends asking her where she was. She started to reach for the messages app but stopped herself; she didn't want them to find her and Danny in this compromising position. Danny was still in the middle of the basement tied up and she was in the bathroom without her green "costume".
She looked up from her phone and stared at herself in the mirror. She couldn't believe how dependent she was on her masks. Just a few weeks ago, she was afraid of just leaving her bedroom with it. Now, she was standing in the basement of a stranger's house afraid to go back into the world without wearing her "cosplay". She sighed to herself and just turned off her phone.
Katelyn picked up the controller; it read "55%". She hoped it was good enough and tried to, more forcefully, slam the wooden interior of the mask upon herself. And this time her masks responded.
A series of tendrils started to latch onto the edge of her face; coating her jawline. Then the two pairs of eyes and mouth holes on both masks started to morph and adhere to her facial features. As the tendrils slithered around her head, Katelyn noticed that the tendrils started to droop and loose its stickiness. She then took it upon herself to grab at the slow moving green blobs and yank them across the back of her head; straining the front of her face with the putty-like green mass. Once the tendrils came together at the crown of her head, Katelyn felt herself twirl into a whirlwind.
With each revolution in her mini-twister, she felt her mask smoothen out and her body morph and materialize her Stanley Ipkiss "cosplay". After a minute of spinning, she bolted out of the bathroom, still within her twister, and towered over Danny's still unconscious body.
"Dammit Mask. I thought you were going to untie him..." Katelyn cursed to herself. "At least Maria and those bitches are gone..." she continued.
She dug inside the pocket of her yellow blazer and fished out a pair of novelty-sized scissors. And with some careful maneuvering, she cut the ropes that tied his hands and his legs. She then threw the scissors away and walked closer towards Danny's body.
She poked his exposed belly; no response.
She then gave a series of pokes to the side of his torso; still no response.
Then an idea hit her and made her bite the bottom of her forest green lips. It clearly wasn't her idea but rather something that her alter-ego fed into her mind. She bent down and leaned into Danny and gave him a sensual kiss on his lips. Almost immediately, a jolt of energy traveled through Katelyn's lips and shot into Danny; he started to move again and kiss her back. He slowly opened his eyes and saw the green faced beauty fill his field of view. He could see the soft green texture of her green face and the blue pupils that looked down upon him. She lifted herself from him and blushed through her mask; giving her green cheeks a rosy hue. Danny propped himself off the ironing board and rubbed his eyes.
"I thought I was suppose to be the Prince here," Danny joked.
Katelyn gave a sly smile and folded her arms. "Not all heroes are guys~"
Danny smiled and started to stand up but then fell onto the floor. Katelyn dashed over to him and helped him up; with his arms on her shoulders.
"Sit tight, I'll get your stuff," she said to him and helped him put his costume back on.
As she helped him, Danny just admired his green faced assistant. Even though Katelyn's appearance was similar to the rambunctious lady whom he previously encountered... her behavior and attitude was the same humble girl that he met at the beginning of senior year.
He felt comfortable with her. He felt that he could trust her. He just hoped she could trust him.
"There you go, Sir Danny," Katelyn mocked with a salute.
"Thanks... let's get the hell out of here..." Danny then paused and heard police sirens blaring in the distance.
"Dammit. Someone called the police! Let's go!" Danny yelled.
She nodded and the two bolted upstairs and followed the stream of inebriated teens out of the house; running for their lives. Katelyn looked around and saw a motorcycle and dragged Danny's towards the bike.
"Do you know how to drive?" Danny asked.
Katelyn paused. She didn't. But something inside her told her that she'll be fine; it was just a big bicycle after all.
She nodded and the two hopped onto the motorcycle with Katelyn at the helm. Then with her shoe, she stepped on the gas and sped away with Danny; leaving a trail of exhaust behind them.

Danny's House. Halloween Eve, 9:30 PM.
A few minutes later, Katelyn pulled up on Danny's house and stopped in front of his driveway.
"Thanks... I owe you one..." Danny paused for a moment and then continued "...hey are you free this weekend... to uh... hangout...?"
"Are you asking me on a date Sir Danny?" Katelyn teased and smiled approvingly at him.
"Awesome. I'll pick you up tomorrow." With that he leaned in and the two gave each other a quick peck of their lips and Danny went into his house.
Katelyn turned around and climbed back onto her stolen motorcycle and sped away back home; smiling and finally feeling comfortable with her life in Santa Cruz.
