Under a midnight sky glittered with faint stars, the trio of friends laughed, joked and smoked to their hearts content.
A rusted swing squeaked an off tune noise every time Lily slowly rocked forwards and backwards, keeping her feet steady on the ground. The children's playground was fairly abandoned and neglected with holes in the once red rubber ground which had faded over many years and contained only one working swing as the chain on the other one had broken off leaving it to hang downwards on a single rusted chain, a slide, a small roundabout and a bench with the paint being mostly peeled off and faded on all of them.
Placing the end of the joint between her lips, Lily inhaled the smoke and felt herself finally become relaxed. She had gotten a call earlier that evening from Dr Abara about the results of the blood test to which she confirmed what they both already suspected to be true.
As she exhaled, the smoke lingered in the cold air and drifted away with the gentle breeze as it blew. Laying at the bottom of the slide with his jacket wrapped tightly around himself, Benjamin lifted his arm and grinned making a grabbing hand motion towards the blonde girl to signal her to pass the joint over to him. Lily rolled her eyes and half stood to lean forward, gifting him his turn to smoke.
"She asked about you the other day." The dark haired boy spoke with and inquisitive grin, placing the joint between his lips. From the decaying bench adjacent to the blonde girl, Izara lay on her back staring up at the night sky and giggled knowingly from the boys words as she casually took regular puffs from a vape.
Lily glanced between the two with suspicion. "Who?" She slightly shuck her head in confusion like she was ignorant to some inside joke that only they knew.
"You know, your girlfriend," he stated with that smug grin that he knew annoyed the girl to death.
"He means Ms Valentine," Izara interjected as Lily's expression deepened with puzzlement from the mention of her apparently having a girlfriend.
"O-oh, really?" Lily chose to ignore the boys comment about the woman being her girlfriend, feeling warmth rush to her cheeks from the mention of her name as vivid images of the teacher on top of her that morning flooded her brain. The chilling cold had already tinged her cheeks a pink tint but it became more evident as the improper thoughts she was having refused to leave her mind.
Goosebumps across her arms and legs became prominent as a gust of wind blew across the playground causing the girl to shiver but as her skin remained ice cold, her insides faintly throbbed in their warmth.
Fixing the school skirt across her thighs she crossed her legs and gently squeezed, attempting to be as discreet as possible.
"The other day when you sagged off school," Izara spoke, "she came up to me and Ben during lunch and asked where you were when you didn't show up to her lesson."
"Do you mean she asked you," Benjamin retorted and Izara rolled her eyes at the boys pettiness. "She didn't even look at me once or acknowledge my existence! I just stood there awkwardly whilst you chatted with your new bestie."
"Don't be a fucking idiot Benjamin she just asked me a simple a question and I gave a simple answer, nothing more nothing less."
Lifting herself from the bench, Izara walked over to the slide and lent over boy to snatch the joint from his hand, returning to slouch on the bench. "Hey!" The boy with shaved dark hair complained. "My turn bitch boy," the girl said with her lips tugging up into a condescending smile.
