Mary had fallen asleep on the couch. I decided it was best to bring her to her bed. I slipped one arm under her knees, and the other under her back, and picked her up with ease. It surprised me a bit; she weighed nothing. I laid her on her bed and pulled the covers over her. Even sleeping, she looked beautiful. I smiled and walked out of the room, and back to my own apartment. I had a match tomorrow and needed to be fit, thus get enough sleep.
I had trouble falling asleep that night. I saw Mary was going backwards. She looked tired. She weighed nothing. Now that I thought about it, I have never seen her eating anything, while I was with her during countless of times that you'd normally eat.
But that says nothing, right? Maybe she eats at other times.
And besides her smile would never drop.
And she always had everything straight.
But she never tells me about anything.
I wanted to believe she was doing well; she deserved nothing less than that. But it was hard to convince myself if I really thought about it. But what can I do about it? She won't let me in.
Finally I fell asleep.
Woods. He was in the woods. The trees weren't green, they were white. White like snow. There was one tree different from all the others. The tree was smaller, more grey-like instead of the shiny white. He walked over to it, wanting to touch it. But every time he took a step towards it, it seemed to be going further away. He started running, but the tree went further and further away. It was no use. The harder he tried the further away it got.
But he didn't give up. He tried harder, ran faster. He was exhausted. He was on pure willpower now, his body was about to give up. For a second it seemed as if he was getting closer. Slowly, but surely. Closer and closer. Faster and faster. When he reached it, and brought his hand up to touch it,
It disappeared into the thin air.
It looked like the tree was never there. All trees were white now, there wasn't one that was different from the others with a grey-like colour. It was all that he saw when he looked around...
He was breathing heavily. He had come all this way, for nothing. The tree had disappeared; it was gone.
Then I was woken up by my alarm. I didn't think I'd need the alarm to wake me up, since it was set at 11AM. I normally never sleep in that late.
Last nights thoughts kept me busy. I was still very tired. I tried to push the thoughts away, the match was all that should be on my mind for now.

I let a week pass by. Maybe I could do something for Mary? Perhaps taking her on a walk around the park would be a good idea. I knew Mary wasn't the kind of girl that liked fancy things a lot. So maybe keeping it simple and going on a nice walk would be something she'd enjoy. Maybe it'd do her good.
Tomorrow was Saturday. The perfect day to do this. She had already told me that her shift was later in the afternoon; she was free in the morning, and so was I. There was no match tomorrow, just a final training before it; Sunday we played another club. I was excited for the match. I think we have a good shot at winning.
Maybe she'll be watching.
I hope she will.
