Mary P.O.V.

The rest of the European cup went by quite fast if I may say so. Denmark didn't win, but they didn't do bad either. They got pretty far. I couldn't suppress the proud feeling I got whenever I watched him play for his country.

Viktor would come back in 2 weeks, wanting to spent time with his family in Denmark first after the cup. Which I understood.

The end of those two weeks was in sight. We hadn't had much contact over the weeks, which was mostly because of me. It was hurting, yes. But it also had to be done. I would thank myself later for this.

Viktor: Hey, do you have time for a skype call?

I didn't really know how to respond. Sure, I wanted to see him again. But I also didn't.

Mary: Sure, but I don't have a lot of time.

One skype call wouldn't hurt. I got my phone and opened the skype app, seeing he was already online. I didn't feel like turning on my laptop. Within minutes I saw his face appear on the screen.

'Happy Birthday!' Was yelled loudly from the other side. Today was in fact my birthday. Though for me it wasn't really a special day or anything.

'Sorry, I can't be there. We'll celebrate it when I get back.' Viktor looked at me with an apologetic smile.

I smiled a little too, 'It's fine. When do you get back anyways?' I asked.

He gasped, with his hand on his chest, pretending to be hurt, 'You don't remember!?'

I chuckled a bit, 'Oh, I'm so sorry. Will you please forgive me?' I answered dramatically.

'Only because you asked so nicely.' He grinned, and added, 'I'll be back in two days.'

Right, this was one of the many reasons why I liked talking to him, I was always-

My thoughts were cut of by a voice from his side, that I didn't recognise, 'Oh hey, is that your girlfriend?' I heard someone say from the other side, and then someone came into view. I guessed it was a family member.

I didn't know what I had wanted him to say. But what he did say was not to my liking,

'Yes, now can you leave?' He said with a nervous laugh. They had a conversation in Danish, from which I didn't understand a lot.

I wasn't his girlfriend, nor was I going to be.

'Sorry about that.' He said once he had turned back to me.

'You know I'm not your girlfriend, right.' I said, a hint of annoyance in my voice. He frowned a little,

'Yeah, but I didn't think you'd mind?' He said a little confused.

But I do.

'I have to go.' I said instead.

'If you don't want me calling you my girlfriend, then I won't.'

That's not what this is all about.

Again I didn't voice my thoughts, and instead just nodded while looking down.

'Mary.' He called, wanting me to look up. When I finally did, he continued,

'We'll talk about this when I get back, okay?' He asked, a little uncertain.

I nodded again, and then ended the call. I put my phone away and got up to leave for work for the last time before the holidays.
