Ayako's PoV
Things happen for a reason. Or maybe not. But in my case, perhaps being born in a life of luxury meant something, although I can't fully wrap it around my head around it just yet. It's unfortunate that I spent my whole middle school life thinking about it but... high school came. Let's say that high school does change who you were before you weren't a high school student.
I wasn't born to be a troublemaker and when I thought that I was gonna get scolded or even grounded like the other students do after I just did my first offense in the school, my parents were too busy to even come to the principal's office. Father only sent his secretary to settle the matter. Money.
That's when I thought: 'Oh! I guess I can do anything I want since money's gonna solve everything anyway.' That thought didn't end well when I got associated with the circle of people who are almost at the deep end. I experienced a little bit of jail time but that didn't go into my record since father's secretary came again to solve the issue with, yep you guessed it, money. And these police officers accepted it anyways and let me off the hook.
High school was the part of my life where I was a... rebel. College though, that's when I discovered the fun and thrill of dating. It didn't hold the same danger I experienced back in high school since this gave me a different type of feel- high, however you can call it. The start was always fun, pushing and pulling, playing hard to get... all that stuff. But when the people I've dated told me that they wanted things to be serious... I dumped them all.
I mean, isn't this how it is? How can relationships be... serious? I don't get it, it just sounds so boring. Why would one stay with one person for a long time when you can get plenty in a short amount of time.
Little did I know I would soon know the answer to that question.

Third PoV
"So... you're breaking up with me?", "Yeah. I am." The timid looking guy lowers his head and puts his hands in his pockets. "Why.. but I thought I made you happy." He sounded so confused. The students walking around all had the same thought for the poor guy: 'He shouldn't have taken the bait'"You did make me happy. Only for a short while though." She leans down and looked at him, brushing the hair back that covered his face. "But I'm sick of you now. You bore me." She pushed him out of the way and walked off.
"That was so cool! The way you just put him in his place is..." one of the group that follows her expressed her admiration to what she did. The group agreed with her. "I wouldn't be surprised if Mizuno-san is dating all of us without us being aware of each other." The group laughs amongst themselves with the joke another person made. "That's just how good she is. Right, Mizuno-san?"
"...Mizuno-san?" The woman was too busy staring at her phone, looking at a message from an unknown number saying:
Unknown: If you can really date anyone...
Unknown: Date him.

She grimaced at the message, thinking that it was one of those prank or scam messages. "Oh? What's that, Mizuno-san?" However, now that some followers of hers have seen the message and clicked the picture attached to it, there was a shift in her decision.
"Oh, this guy? Isn't he the one who made it through a scholarship? I heard he's poor." They whispered all sorts of information that they knew about this man to her. "I heard his parents died and he's the oldest among his siblings. Poor guy..." it may look and sound like they're pitying him when they're actually mocking him for being poor and having a life as unfortunate as his.
"Really now..." her eyes looked at the picture in the phone and took her phone back when she saw another message from the unknown sender.
Unknown: Don't you wanna know the answer?
Her eyes widened at the message and she roamed her eyes around the hall, looking if there was someone watching her but there were too many people around.
"Will you date him this time, Mizuno-san? I don't think you should date someone that would hurt your high reputation." The others agreed with what the follower said. "I will." Her followers were about to sigh in relief but they sucked those breaths in and were stunned with her answer.
"H-huh?!", "This is ridiculous!", "W-well.. let's see this in a way that Mizuno-san is.. doing "charity work", I guess.", "What nonsense are you even talking about?!" — there was clashing of opinions amongst her followers and she took this chance to leave and go to her usual hangout spot.
At the rooftop
She stood in the middle, looking up at the sky without any thought in her head. She was mindlessly staring and when the wind blew and brushed past her figure, she closes her eyelids and recalled the last time she felt this type of peace.
"NO!! DON'T LET HER D–"
"WAKE UP, AYAKO!!"
"WHAT'S GOTTEN INTO HER THAT MADE HER DO THIS?!!"
She slowly opened her eyes after remembering that memory vividly. "Why did I see that again.." she mumbled, annoyed by it. She brushed her hair back with her fingers and she sighed, walking further to the edge of the rooftop.
She puts her hands against the fence around the rooftop and looks at the other students walking around the campus. Some are alone, some are with their partners, and some are with their friend groups.
"What am I even doing here." She muttered, rummaging her pockets, "Shit, where did my lighter go?" She turns around and looked at the floor but there was nothing. And as she was occupied searching for her lighter so she could smoke, she felt a tap on her shoulder.
She looks over her left and she saw a guy casually handing him a lighter. But she noticed that this was the guy in the picture that the unknown person sent to her earlier. But she couldn't care less about that now, she just wants to smoke and release her stress.
She takes the lighter and lights up her cigarette, inhaling and exhaling, releasing a puff of smoke and she lets out a relieved sigh. "What's a guy like you doing up here and not down there?" She asks, striking up a conversation with him.
The guy leans back on the fence, his hands in his pockets. "I don't need to be down there. They treat me as an outcast, not that I want to be one of them."
"You're not gonna survive here with your scholarship. You're poor and they're gonna use that to drive you mad." She said, huffing out another smoke. "How about you though? You belong with the people down there so why are you up here?" He asked her this time, glancing at her who finished her cigarette and was picking out another one but he reached for her hand to stop her.
She looked back at him with a frown, "What's the big deal, man?!" She pulls her hand back but her cigarette dropped to the ground. "Can you answer my question first?" She rolls her eyes and crossed her arms, "Fine." She leans back on the fence too, a feet apart from him.
"It's because I can help you."
