Saying goodbye to Amber Holland would be hard for the whole family.

For Jared, he said goodbye to his firstborn child who just happened to be the spitting image of her mother just with lighter hair but had the same brown eyes, watery with tears, pleading for life. He lost his wife, now he could lose his daughter.

For Caspian, losing his sister, his friend, his rock. He'd take on main responsibility in the house with her gone and it wouldn't feel right. To be allowed in the kitchen anytime of the day without a certain teen fighting him over it. To have first dibs on what crappy, overdramatic Capitol show to watch on tv after their father had gone to bed. Not being able to listen to his big sister sing a harmonious song as his little sister played the piano whilst Cole claps his hands to the rhythm.

For Lyra, losing her sister, her best friend, her comfort person. The person who would sit with her, stroking her hair soothingly, when she woke up crying from a bad dream. The person who sang when she played the piano. The person who never failed to bring a smile onto the face of the sarcastic girl, turning her into her real sweet self. The person who always knew what to say to make you feel better. The only female role model she had. Amber Holland was the glue holding the girl together.

For Cole, sweet little one and a half year old Cole. He wouldn't understand what was happening quite yet. Just that his sister is gone a while. And that she either comes back an altered person or doesn't come back at all. He'll soon learn the horrors of the world and will understand what happened the year of the 62nd Hunger Games and will feel the rage and sadness, but until then he will continue on in confusion.

Depending on the outcome of the 'game', the Holland family may never be together again after this day.

They may never have a baking session with the entire family again. Amber being a control freak and trying to get the most perfectly accurate measurements, Cole sat on the counter taking every opportunity he can to grab little handfuls of chocolate chips from a bowl, Caspian and Lyra having a small flower fight but feigning innocence every time Amber would look up at them, Jared laughing at his children with a soft smile on his face as he secretly licked the spoon of mixture that his oldest daughter had been looking for for the past ten minutes.

They may never have another family meal all sat around the table. Their father at the head of the table with a mountain of food on his plate, Amber on one side of him dishing up food onto everyone's plates, Lyra on his other side sitting opposite Amber as she tried to hide her grin at the petty argument her brother was having, Cole beside Lyra with his mashed potato and vegetables, and Caspian beside Amber grinning as he lightly argued with their father about something completely irrelevant which would always result in him losing by saying something stupid that he had supposedly deemed accurate and everyone bursting into laughter as he tried to argue his case.

Lyra was snapped out of her thoughts when the double doors creaked open by the peacekeepers force and her blue eyes meet Amber Holland's watery brown ones.
