Oh, how Bucky hates this part of parenthood. The sickly children, he doesn't hate sick kids, no, he just hate seeing his own baby sick and in pain when he can't do anything about it.

He should've seen this coming.

Their daughter is smaller than most kids, for sure, she gets it from Tiny, while it was cute, it also meant she was a fragile thing that needed more care than normal.

And he should've seen it coming when she refused to play with Morgan. She loved play dates with the Starks, there was no denying the two were best friends despite their father's pasts. But when Tiny had asked her, she had simply frowned and shook her head against her father's chest.

And now they were here.

She has came up with a fever. A high one that had Bucky rushing into the medbay. Dr. Cho simply said that for her weight, it was normal. Her age? Not so much. But given the fact that her father is a super soldier with super serum enhanced genes, she was sure their little flower would be fine. She'll just need a lot of rest.

And off they went.

She had spent nearly two weeks now in bed. Crying most of the time, Bucky spent his nights beside his daughter. He couldn't handle the cries she let out against his chest, but hopefully, this will all be over.

He spends tonight with her again. Tiny went off to the pharmacy just to get more medicine for their little thing. She hates it, he knows, she told him when he finally got her to stop crying.

"Where's mumma?"

He gave her head a pat as he rocked her side to side. There was a soft hum that played from his chest as he answered her truthfully. "Getting more of your medicine, petal."

"The purple?"

He gave her a nod. "Yes, baby. The purple one. Isn't that your favourite colour like you said?"

She gave him a slight nod but the frown on her lips didn't cease. "Yes, daddy. But..."

"But what, baby?"

She hid her face against his chest and hugged her baby yoda stuffy closer. Her eyes swell with tears and he swipes over the course of her chubby cheeks to get rid of them. "It taste weird, daddy."

He would've laughed if she wasn't crying. She hates this as much as he hates it. He wishes her could take away the medicine and the pain, but he can't and all he can offer her is his love and comfort.

"I know it does, petal. But..." She whines at his sentence and his frown just deepens with her. "It's the only thing that's helping you not get sick anymore."

And he wishes he could do more, he really does. But she simply whimpers at her father's words with a frown present on her lips as the two of them wait for Tiny.

Only then, Bucky sings to her, her favourite tale, the one with the princess saving the knight. She likes to call them her mommy and daddy.
