She barely heard him enter, not even a peep, not a single step echoes through her mind. Perhaps, it's the pie she's so keen on cooking or maybe it's the way she had been missing all day.

She could care less the moment she feels large arms snaked around her small body, pulling her back flush against his chest, her feeble gasp barely echoes through the air. But she does smile.

When she feels how cold his vibranium hand feel when it snuck it's way under her shirt and over her tummy, she smiles. And it grows bigger when he digs his face in the crook of her neck and inhaled.

She smiles. She also leans back against him.

"Hi, baby."

She feels him hum against her skin, his own response to her call before he has to pry himself away from the comfort of her neck. But he makes sure to kiss her, one on her skin and another on her shoulder.

"Smells good, petal." And he just tucks her head under his chin, watching as he holds her, fill the pie with strawberry filling.

She grins, then feels how her heart swells at his compliment and the way his hold around her makes her feel. "Thank you... How was Sam?"

She hears him sigh, and then she knows it's been a rough day and she'll have to coax him to be pliable later, not that she entirely minds.

"Complicated."

It's her turn to hum, let him know that she hears him and understands him. She'll have to get his mind off his day. Gladly, she'll do it.

"Wanna help me cook the rest?"

When she turns to greet him, the bluest eyes stare back at her while his lips curved into a smile. She misses that, she always will. She has him for tonight. Even for tomorrow but they'll savour each other later for dinner.

"Gladly."
