Oftentimes, you wished that the ground would open up and swallow you whole so you no longer had to deal with everybody's crap. Home was hell and so was work but you couldn't afford to move out or quit your job so your only option was to push through. And no matter how many times your friends offered to help, you couldn't bring yourself to accept it because that part of your brain would always yell at you and tell you that you had to do everything on your own and that you didn't need help from anybody. If you couldn't handle things on your own, you would only end up proving to everyone that you're just a weak little girl who couldn't do anything.
As soon as you sat down at your desk, you saw the notepad that had the current date and "meeting with Nick Fury at 10am" written in big capital letters and was circled with red marker. Your stomach dropped as you checked the time and it was 9:45. You forgot that Pierce wanted you there too and you quickly grabbed your pen and notebook and rushed to the conference room where the meeting was going to be held and tried to hide how nervous you were for the lecture you were likely going to receive from your boss.
