His hand splayed over the course of her waist, large metal digits, caressing and gripping her skin as he following behind her and her behind Zemo.

And while he's supposed to play the part of the big bad wolf, the Winter Soldier, one of the most feared assassins in history, not even the brainwashing, not even HYDRA can result in the lose of care for you.

You wished you could smile, kiss his cheek in return for a simple thank you, but all you had to do was walk in these damn heels by Sam's side; pretending you were some dumb headed bimbo in need of company.

And that's what you did.

Even as the four of you arrived at the bar, with Bucky behind you and a secret hand intertwined with his, you grinned behind a drink that only he caught.

"The usual?" The man asked Sam. He gave him a nod, watching as he pulled a deceased snake from a jar just before he ripped it apart and pulled the heart of the very creature and poured it into a drink.

A Smiling Tiger.

You caught Bucky nodding, sharp jaw clenching as he attempted to kill the grin that was impending on his lips. You mocked his own, looking away in disgust at how Sam swallowed the damn treat with a small gag bubbling from his throat.

All the while a man spoke with Zemo, a scowl on his face, while Zemo looked utterly unfazed just as he spoke those words in Russian.

You swallowed down your anxiety, watching as Bucky's chest heaved when he peeled his fingers away from your own and marched towards the man.

And as he passed Zemo, muttering 'watch her' as his head jerked back to you, your eyes couldn't peel themselves away from the sight of him fighting these men as if he were once the soldier.

It was familiar with the way he held himself, the soldier you sought out comfort in during your time with him, seeming to be right here. Yet, it was still odd at how you saw the way the Bucky in him was holding himself back from the punched and kicks.

Some part of you was proud that he still had that sense of himself in him. But another part of you was worried at how easy it was for him to get in that headspace that has tortured him for decades on end.

And when Zemo had order him to stop, commanding him to obey, you looked at Bucky across from the bar and caught his eyes glazed and nose flushed. He kept his own gaze right back at you, not daring to ever break it until the bartender had announced that Selby was looking for them.

You watched as Bucky pull himself off the man, following Zemo without even batting an eye at anyone else but you. And when he caught up to your side, he stayed there until you began to walk with him yourself.

"Are you alright?" He simply nodded, returning his focus back on the mission. He spoke nothing of the sort throughout the whole thing, given that he's supposed to be playing the soldier, it was that until they had been caught and Selby had been shot dead.

He was quick to recover as he engulfed you, wrapping large arms around your smaller self, attempting to protect you from stray bullets that came along.

It was only then when he deemed it safe enough, that he let you go, cupping your cheek as he looked at you with eyes that assessed your face and body.

"I'm fine." You told. "But we need to go."

Bucky nodded, running out of the club with you in tow just as the four of you feigned innocence of what you had just done. Though, it seemed too late as bounty hunters galore found their bounties and their pieces tagged on your head.

And when Sharon had come to the rescue, inviting all four of you into her very humble abode in High Town, only then did you get a moment with Bucky as he changed.

"I can take care of myself, you know..." You watched him peel of everything from the vest to the pants he wore, leaving him shirtless and in his boxers as you watched. "I'm not weak."

He didn't bat an eye at you. But it was obvious that he was listening as you watch his plates whir in response. And with that saying, you marched your way over to him, peering up at his tall stature with a frown as you reached to cup his face.

"You shouldn't have seen that."

You shook your head, then decided to wrap your arms around his waist in an attempt to comfort him. For a while, it did.

"You were pretending, Jamie. I know you wouldn't do that if you weren't forced to."

He sighed, though, not completely believing himself nor your words, it's still reassuring to find some comfort and peace in you.

"I just got lost for a moment."

You kissed his shoulder in response, sighing as he held you closer and tighter back. And in all fairness, the two of you just needed that. Coming so far along on his journey and then yours, it was definitely a difficulty feat for him to go through.

In some place, some other part, perhaps Bucky wouldn't have done it if he hadn't know you would he by his side. His anchor. And while you're tough, and not weak as you claimed, you're his everything and he'll go through hell and back for you.
