Chapter 13

Naomi POV

So just now, my butterfly 🦋 summon told me that Danzo told Shisui to meet him alone at the Naka river at night. I immediately told Jiji and the others. Right now, I'm at my apartment gathering all of my equipment for tonight. It's still early in the morning but I have to be prepared. In case Danzo changes his mind. Thankfully, Shisui is on a C rank mission with Kakashi sensei. They won't be back until dawn. Anyway, today I'm going to be hanging out with Itachi. Naruto and Sasuke are currently with their friends having a sleepover at Shikaku-san's house.

So I just finished preparing for tonight and now I'm going to make lunch first before meeting with Itachi. After that, I pack the lunch box and went to the place where I promise to meet Itachi.

These days, I noticed that Itachi is slowly becoming more tired, stress and I noticed that he also avoiding us if he has a chance. Of course, only I noticed. But I think he is doing this to make sure he doesn't get attached to us, but unfortunately I have made sure that he and Shisui will be with us when they are available.

"Naomi!"

I heard someone calling me and I  turn around to see Itachi running towards me.

"Sorry I'm late." He said while panting a little.

"It's fine. Did something happen?" I ask.

Itachi shakes his head before saying, "No not really, I just happen to meet Shisui. That's all."

I nodded before asking, "Then shall we?"

He looked at me and nodded. We both began to walk side by side together enjoying each others company.

"Soo... What are we going to do, Itachi?" I ask him.

"How about we just be with each other for today..... I don't want to train today." He replied.

"Ok." I say.

We went to the dango 🍡 shop. We both sat down and order. I notice that Itachi was looking at me while I was ordering. So I ask him, "Itachi?"

"Yes?"

"Is there something wrong?"

"No, why do you ask?"

"Well, I noticed that you have been staring at me for a while.... Do you want to say something?"

Itachi freeze for a second before sighing, "I just...."

"Yes?"

"Naomi, remember that time we were at the Naka river? Where I was asking about life?"

I looked at him for a moment before answering, "Yeah, I remember. What about it?"

"Well, I just want to ask your opinion on the question you ask me that day..."

"Which one?"

"The one about choosing between the clan or the village.... "

"Ohh, and what is your question?"

He took a deep breath before looking at me, "If you were given that choice, what would you choose?"

I study Itachi for a second before replying to him, "Well, I would choose what's best."

He looked puzzled on my answer so I continue, "What I mean is, I choose what is the best. For example, if I choose my clan. I might have to make them move to another village because I want to prevent them from doing something stupid to the village. But I might regret it as it will make me prevent from seeing my friends...  But if I choose the village, I might have to listen to the hokages request to do something to my clan to stop them from doing stupid things. I will regret it but at least the village is safe."

Itachi look thoughtful for a while so I continue again, "That's why I told you to choose what's better.... But why do you ask??"

He pause at my question,"I just wanted to know.... After all, I've always wanted to hear your answer..." He replied smoothly.

I nodded at him before our order arrive. I start to eat with Itachi.

After that, me and him went to the Naka river. We wanted to relax their to clear our mind.

"Itachi?" I called him while we both lay down.

"Hmm?" He replied.

"Why are you and Shisui becoming more and more distant to me and the boys lately...."

"..."

"Itachi?"

He sighed, "It's nothing really... We just wanted to rest. Sorry for making you guys feel that way..." He said.

"Itachi, if you ever have a problem. Just talk to me. Maybe I could help. But if you're really tired, you could have just say so, dattebane!" I said.

"Alright, I promise Naomi."

"You better!"

We watch the river while enjoying each others company.

"Say Itachi?" I suddenly ask him.

"Yes?"

"How are you and Izumi doing?"

"Whatever do you mean, Naomi?"

"Don't you like her??"

"What? No, she's just a friend."

"What?!?!"

"Why do you ask?"

"Well, I thought you might have like her. After all, she's so kind, polite, beautiful and smart as well."

"Your all those things as well, Naomi." He replied casually.

I sigh at him, "Your impossible."

"Why's that?"

"Can't you see? Izumi obviously likes you."

"I know."

"Yeah yeah yo-"

I paused. "Wait, you knew?!?!"

"Of course.... It's actually really obvious if you ask me."

"Then why didn't you said anything?!?!?"

"Because I don't want to hurt her."

"...."

"Are you positive you don't like her?" I ask skeptical.

"Yes."

"For sure?"

"Mhmm."

"One hundred percent sure??"

"Omg, yes Naomi. I'm very sure that I don't like her that way."

I was speechless. 'But shouldn't he like Izumi right now?? Is it not the time? Or is he just shy to say it? But he would've blush lightly....

Did I change something?? Oh god, please don't say that I did something. Wait², maybe he will realize it later when he meets her? Yeah² that might be the case.'

I then hear Itachi called me.

"Why did you assume I like Izumi?" Itachi ask curiously.

"I just thought you guys look cute together."

He looked at me like I was an idiot. "Naomi, if I were to like Izumi. I would've told you and Shisui. You know that, right?"

I paused, "Huh, I guess you're right." I said just realizing that now.

Itachi chuckle at me.

I noticed the sun almost going down. So I excuse myself to Itachi and went to my apartment to get ready for tonight.
