Chapter Six - Daughter Lost and Daughter Found

Luke's POV:

I was awoken from a pang in my chest, Tate was under stress I got up and wandered the corridors until I bumped into Tate and Sofia. They quickly filled me in on the past events and I nodded excepting it as a fact. I knew my daughter, Emily had fallen for James and had hated the marriage with Sofia. I hurried to the carriage along with Tate and Sofia and we arrived in ten minutes.

I put wrote quickly in my notepad and showed it to Sofia. Everything is alright we will fix things. I hoped it made a difference, of course I was mad at Emily but I couldn't go back on years of her mothers teachings.

My wife Catherine had not always been against Downworlders(half demons etc.) and we had loved each other for many years. When her parents had been killed by a greater demon she had gone into a rage and killed three of our warlock friends, great and innocent people. When she did this it was terrible and I couldn't continue living with her and loving her. We separated she went to Russia to live with friends and took four year old Emily with her. One midnight I was notified by Tate that Catherine had been killed by a demon and that Emily was coming to live with us. I grieved for the time we had lost, Emily and I but also rejoiced at her coming. I couldn't grieve for Catherine for I no longer loved her but I could grieve for a lost demon hunter.

We arrived at the bedroom to see Emily huddled on the bed looking shamed. James was at the other side of the room, arms crossed and looking grim. I walked to Emily and sat down beside her and put my arm around her. James ran to Sofia and hugged her his relief evident. Emily looked up to me and there were tears on her face, she raised her hand and her wrist was crushed. I intermediately applied a healing rune and kissed her lightly on the forehead. I got up and consulted with Tate.

Sofia's POV:

James bravely said to me when I was in his arms: "I've been thinking and after this event with Emily I saw how much love Luke showed for Emily maybe we should adopt a child."
