Chapter Nineteen - Rift Base

Tate's POV:

The Rift Base was a dome of runed and highly protected glass that was under the water of the bay. The purpose of the Rift Base was to open portals into the demon world to strengthen the wards that keep demons out and to explore the demon world.

The Rift Base was leaded by one of the most famous and accomplished demon hunters. Originally based in Japan Muyashi was a force to reckon with. After a great battle she had lost much of her emotional attachment to the world. Due to this she spent her entire life training, eating, and training. She took her current job because of her ability to handle anything.

When we got to the Rift Base she greeted us coldly with eyes the color of steel. "We cannot hold Annix's warriors any longer. He has already killed two powerful warlocks that were summoned to help us. We have been trying to enter hostage negotiations but all of out offers have been rejected. It apears he wants an open war against all of us. From what we can tell his army is huge."

"We can't expect any other demon hunters to come to our aid. Either we die fighting or die as cowards." I said this coldly, I had been in situations such as this multiple times. I would not take the coward's way out, I would fight 'till the end if it made any difference. "We're very well trained, we should be able to take care of at least a quarter of his army. After that we will just have to hope that the dome will keep them in long enough for the Inquisitor to see sense." I have no trouble admitting that I was afraid of the battle. The thing that I wasn't afraid of was dying for my brothers and sisters.

Leila turned to her soldiers and the remaining two warlocks and said: "Open the Portal."
