Plot: Mickey is having a hard time getting used to being openly gay with Ian.
____________________________

Mickey sits on Ian's bed, watching him change into a white dress shirt. "Do we really have to go out for fucking dinner? Why can't we order in," Mickey complains, really not wanting to be seen out in public with another guy romantically.

"Mickey, you already promised you'd try to be more open about us in public," Ian says as he starts buttoning up his dress shirt. Mickey just crosses his arms over his chest and let's out a huff.

Him and Ian finally came out as a couple and Mickey is still getting used to everybody knowing. It's been hard for him to adjust, he's not used to everybody knowing he's a hardcore gay man and is madly in love with the ginger Gallagher.

"I know, fuck, I know," Mickey let's himself fall backwards onto the bed, he stares up at the ceiling. Ian smiles and rolls his eyes playfully, slightly chucking at Mickey's actions.

"Alright, come on tough guy, let's go. I booked this reservation a week ago," Ian grabs Mickey's hand and pulls him out of bed.

The two leave the Gallagher house and bus downtown to a restaurant. It wasn't anything super fancy, since neither of them could afford it, but it's still a nice place.

Ian opens the door for Mickey, earning an eye roll from the Milkovich before he walks through the door. Ian follows behind him and the two get greeted by a lady at the front desk.

"Hello! Do you two have reservations?" She asks. Mickey looks away and crosses his arms over his chest, embarrassed.

"Yes, under the name Gallagher," Ian says.

She types into the computer and their reservation pops up. "Ian?" He smiles and nods his head, confirming.

"You can follow me," she says while grabbing two menus and leading the boys over to a booth. They sit down, across from one another. The lady places the menus on the table before leaving the two alone.

"See? Everything's going good, you have nothing to worry about," Ian reassures Mickey, placing his hand on the table, palm up, waiting for Mickey to place his hand in Ian's.

Mickey continues to blush and look away before hesitantly slipping his hand onto Ian's. The ginger smiles and slips his hand out from under Mickey's and grabbing the menu.

The two look through it before ordering food and drinks. "Special day for you two?" The waitress asks while writing down their orders.

"No-" Mickey soon gets cut off by Ian.

"Yes- yes it is," Ian glares at Mickey. The waitress smiles at them, remaining professional.

"And what are we celebrating today?" She asks again, wanting to know if she can bring anything special to the boys' dinner.

"We finally got together, so I decided to take him out for dinner," Ian says while turning to see Mickey's reaction.

He can't tell if Mickey wants to punch him or curl up in a ball and disappear. He's always been hard to read.

The lady looks a bit shocked but soon continues to smile at them, "well congratulations you two! Your drinks will be right out!" She congratulates them before walking off to give the chefs the orders.

As soon as she's out of sight, Mickey glares at Ian. "What the fuck are you doing red?!" He whisper shouts. Ian returns the glare.

"Taking my boyfriend on a date. Why are you like this? Are you ashamed of me or something?" Ian questions sadly.

Mickey goes quiet and looks down at his hands. "No, I'm not Ian..." he says softly, hurt that Ian would think that.

"Then what? People do this, people go on dates," Ian argues. It wasn't hard to see the hurt behind his hazel eyes.

Mickey continues staring at his hands, ashamed of himself. "I'm still adjusting Gallagher, this shit isn't easy for me," he admits to not only Ian, but himself.

The ginger sighs softly and rests his elbows on the table. "I know, I know, I'm sorry. I just don't want you to be ashamed of who you are Mick," usually Mickey would snap back at Ian, but this time he decides to stay quiet, not wanting to talk to Ian about their relationship anymore.

Eventually their food and drinks come, they eat quietly, not really wanting to speak to each other. Mickey feels embarrassed while Ian just wants to give him space.

The rest of the night is quiet, they finish their food and get a special dessert for free since they got together. Ian pays before the two leave the restaurant. Instead of taking the bus home, the two walk side by side, still neither of them wanting to say a word.

The cold wind nips at their noses, turning them pink. Ian turns to look at Mickey, his heart sinks when he sees his boyfriend with a sad look on his face.

"Alright, that's enough," Ian says while pulling Mickey into a tight hug. Mickey let's out a whine but Ian hugs him tightly.

"I love you so much Mickey, I'm sorry for trying to rush you. Take as much time as you need to adjust okay? You're all I need, even if I can't show the world, I'll still love you the same," Ian reassures him while pulling away and resting his hands on Mickey's shoulders.

He's always been a romantic and Mickey is the complete opposite. He's never had someone care so much about him before. It's all so new and scary, especially since he's dating not only a guy, but a Gallagher.

He blushes but Ian can't tell, due to his cheeks being red from the cold. Ian just smiles, admiring how Mickey looks under the street lights.

He suddenly nuzzles Mickey's cheek, chuckling to himself. "Gallagher! People are looking!" Mickey complains.

Ian doesn't respond, he just kisses Mickey on the cheek. He pulls away completely and looks into his boyfriends eyes.

Mickey can't help but break into a shy smile. "There's that smile," Ian teases while placing a hand on his cheek.

"Fuck you Gallagher," he grumbles out.

"Oh trust me Mickey, we'll be doing a lot of that later!"
