"So how did you do on the exam?" Rain asked. After class, they decided to go home together since they both lived in the same building, and since neither of them had anymore classes.

"It wasn't too hard. How did you do?" Sky asked. He gathered from the giant smile on Rain's face that there was some reward from P'Phayu waiting for him if he passed the test.

"I think I aced it! I can't wait to tell P'Phayu." Rain's smile faded suddenly, and he looked sullen. "P'Phayu has something on his mind lately. I'm hoping it will cheer him up."

"What happened?" Sky was listening intently now. He had never seen Rain speak of Phayu without a smile. "Did you guys fight?"

"No." Rain shook his head. "When I went to the hospital..." He looked up with a straight face, and Sky was worried. His eyes were shining with tears and his voice started to quiver. "I accidently ended up in the NICU. And there was this baby girl..." Rain was smiling wistfully now, but his eyes still had tears in them. "I think P'Phayu is thinking about her. She had heart surgery when she was born, her mother died during childbirth and her father gave her up for adoption. She was so tiny, Sky, you should have seen her. She was so beautiful."

Sky had never heard his friend talk about anyone other than Phayu the way he was talking about the baby. As if she was already his. Sky smiled, listening to the story, and nodded along as Rain talked. His heart swelled as he spoke and he suddenly thought of Prapai. Would he want kids someday?

"...But I can't seem to get him to answer my calls. He always picks up." Sky looked up at Rain and noticed him staring. He realized he had been lost in his own thoughts while he was telling his story. "Are you ok?"

"I'm fine. I guess I'm just tired." His phone buzzed in his pocket again, and Sky looked at the number; it was the same one as before. "Huh." Sky ignored the call again and placed the phone back in his pocket. Whatever they were selling he would deal with it later.

That evening, as Sky was waiting for Prapai to arrive home, he pulled out his phone. He looked at the number that had called him earlier. He sat down at the kitchen table and stared at the numbers trying to decide if it might be a scam caller. Maybe it was P'Pai calling from one of his burners? A dark feeling suddenly crept into the pit of his stomach and he stared at the numbers on the screen. He pressed the call button and said a silent prayer as he placed it to his ear.
