Part Two: Chapter 62

My eyes slowly opened to the empty space beside me. My body ached. My bones were sore. Yohan was nowhere to be seen. I slowly pulled myself up, wincing at the sharp pain that struck my body. What the hell happened last night? Stretching out my arms, I saw a piece of parchment on the table. Something was scribbled on it but I couldn't see what it was from the futon. Holding the blanket to my chest, I crawled over to the table. I read over the note. My eyes narrowed the more I read what was written in haste.

"That bastard..." he's at the palace and won't be back for several days. Did something happen? I rubbed the back of my neck as I gave a sigh. For some reason, I felt...gross.

Almost like...

I tore the blanket from my body. Dried cum stained my inner thighs.

"Has he eaten?"

"No."

Elder Kang stood before two servants who stood in front of the emperor's bedroom door.

"He doesn't want to see anyone either." one servant said.

"Do you know if anything happened?" the other servant asked.

Elder Kang shook her head. "I don't know. I know he has been...leaving the palace every chance he gets." she knew where the emperor was running off to. But she dared not to tell anyone at the palace.

"Should...we..."

"No." Elder Kang held up a hand. "Just let him be. I can tell he is going through his rut. Just give him a few days and he'll be back to normal."

"Hyemi! Hyemi! Hyemi!" I called out to the mermaid as I walked behind the waterfall. "Hyemi! Where are you!"

"Here I am!" she was floating on her back in the shallow pool. She had her arm raised in the air, waving to me in a playful manner. "What are you doing here? Did you run out of my tears already?"

"No, I actually have something for you." I set the basket on the ground at my feet. Picking up a nectarine, I smiled. "Here."

Hyemi swam over to me. "What is that?" she asked.

"It's a nectarine. I thought I would bring you something new. I think you'll like this one."

The mermaid took the nectarine and held it to her nose. She sniffed it a few times before taking a small bite.

"How does it taste?" I asked.

The mermaid finished the nectarine and then tossed the pit into the water. "I'll have another." she held out her hand.

I laughed and handed her another one.

"Thank you." taking a bite, the juice trickled down the corner of her mouth.

I watched her for several minutes before sitting on the ground. "...Hyemi...can I ask you something?"

"You can ask me anything, human."

"...Would you be open to meeting someone?"

"Who?" she took another bite of her fruit.

"...The emperor..."

"The emperor?" she scoffed. "What emperor? Sincheon has four of them. Well, five if you include the Gret Emperor Kang Chunwoo."

"Emperor Kang Yohan...?"

The mermaid froze.

"He asked me if it would be okay...for the two of you to meet..."

"Why?" she looked at me from the corner of her eye. "What is the reason for this meeting? I am no leader of a pod. I am a solitary mermaid that lives in a cave."
