1| My Best Friend Shops For a Wedding Dress
I wake up to Percy, bolting off his bed. Well I am living with the Jackson's, since Mrs Jackson, Sally, basically adopted me. But anyway, it's morning and then a knock on the door.
Sally: 'Percy, Y/N, you're going to be late. Come on, dear's. Last day of school. Both of you should be excited! You're almost made it!'
Percy: 'Coming... Y/N, get yo bitch ass up.'
Y/N: 'I heard her, you idiot slug.'
Percy: 'Just checking.'
Y/N: 'Asshole.'
We drag ourselves off our beds, and we get changed separately, like who the f*ck wants to change with another dude. Sally made us blue waffles and blue eggs for breakfast. We eat at the kitchen table, while Sally washes dishes. She told me to call her mom but maybe later on in the future.
Sally: 'Percy, are you all right?'
Percy: 'Yeah... fine.'
She dried her hands and sat down across from us, and I look at Percy, with a raised eyebrow.
Sally: 'School, or...'
Percy: 'I think Grover's in trouble.'
He continued to tell us that Grover was chased by some big giant, and he ran into a wedding dress shop. And the whole front entrance exploded. Sally pursed her lips.
Sally: 'I wouldn't be too worried, dear. Grover is a big satyr now. If there were a problem, I'm sure we would've heard from... from camp...'
Her shoulders tensed as she said camp.
Y/N: 'What is it?'
Sally: 'Nothing, I'll tell you two what. This afternoon we'll celebrate the end of school. I'll take both of you and Tyson to Rockefeller Centre – to that skateboard shop you guys like.'
Hold up, wait a minute. Something ain't right, here.
Percy: 'Wait a minute. I thought we were packing me and Y/N up for camp tonight.'
Y/N: 'Yeah.'
She twisted her dishcloth.
Sally: 'Ah, dear's, about that... I got a message from Chiron last night.'
Percy and Y/N: 'What did he say?'
Sally: 'He thinks... it might not be safe for the both of you to come to camp just yet. We might have to postpone.'
Percy: 'Postpone?'
Y/N: 'That doesn't make any sense... what kind of thing would not be safe for me, I mean, I'm almost on the same level as the Main Gods.'
Percy: 'Yeah.'
Sally: 'But with the problems they're having-'
Percy: 'What problems?'
Y/N: 'Yeah, what problems?'
Sally: 'Y/N, Percy... I'm very, very sorry. I was hoping to talk to you two about it this afternoon. I can't explain it all now. I'm not even sure Chiron can. Everything happened so suddenly...' *looks at the clock* 'Seven thirty, dears. Both of you should go. Tyson will be waiting.'
I gathered all my stuff, and I walked out the door and Percy ran to catch up to me. I stepped outside, I glanced at a the brownstone building across the street. Just for a second I saw two dark shapes in the morning sunlight – human silhouettes against the brick wall, two shadows that belonged to no one. Then they rippled and vanished.
