( Y/N POV: )

it took awhile for naomi and her brother to fit everything in the room that kunikida let me borrow. plus, they had to make sure the position of the furniture was to my liking. as you could expect living with kunikda, this took awhile because he wanted to shove his own perfectionist opinion into my new room as well. something about needing to live in an ideal home? the whole situation turned out with naomi and tanizaki trying to figure both of our tastes.

after what seemed like forever, i finally heard the sound of a futon pressing on the floor. that my last belonging, so that meant the job of moving everything was done. naomi and tanizaki slouched on a nearby couch with their stomachs growling. all that heavy lifting and exercise must have made them hungry.

" brother. im starving! we should really get something." naomi voiced as she tried to ponder an idea. " oh i know! we can all go out to the cafe down the street, and bring kunikida and y/n. my treat!" kunikida tried to protest the woman's offer but i dragged him out of the door to follow naomi. we all found an empty table and took our seats. i ordered my favorite pastry and waited for everyone else to make a decision.

" y/n! now that i think about it, you haven't had your entrance exam. everyone's been talking about it." tanizaki mentioned after the many conversations that were held at the cafe table in the last ten minutes. soon, the food got there and everyone starting munching on their favorite plates.

" it would certainly look more professional if you became a member of our agency instead of just lounging around. given that, it will most likely happen eventually."

" that's probably right kunikida." tanizaki chuckled with food still in his mouth. " it's a shame y/n, i would've been the one to give you your exam, but you already know me so it would be useless." he shrugged. i nodded my head and gave an audible  " that's okay" as naomi handled the bill. not long after, the brother and sister parted their way so that just left kunikida to walk with me back to our shared house.

however, y/n wasn't aware of who was watching the two of them walk home together.

as y/n slept in that next morning, the agency had a meeting discussing what their exam should be like. everyone all had answers that seemed way too harsh or way too tame. everything seemed to come to a dead end until dazai spoke up. " you all know y/n worked with the enemy before they met us. even though they had a clear mission, they hesitated to hurt any of us. this could've ended up with them being killed, when it comes to the mafia."

" are you insinuating that should've been their exam?" the blonde stern man with glasses stood up and put his hands on the table.

" maybe i am. atsushi and tanizaki could both be alive thanks to y/n's risk they took to their safety. also if i do say so myself, it looked like they had a careful eye into observing the situation they were assigned to. even now, they are even suffering to not run into the mafia. sounds like a great task of difficulty to overcome to me."

mostly kunikida tried to fight that wasn't a proper exam but it was ultimately up to the president. the president coughed then raised his voice to speak. " it may seem like a dangerous call but i do respect dazais ability to analyze the situation. ill give him my answer later this week."
