(Subaru's pov)'Great job, Subaru. On your very first day in another world, you successfully made a girl cry.' I thought while walking after the berkano-fid stone together with Emilia. After Emilia introduced herself as 'Satella', I instantly knew exactly where I was.
During the holy grail war, my mother's friend/rival, Luviagelita Edelfelt, Luvia, for short, summoned the servant of the Assassin class who apparently didn't remember his name. It was only near the end of the war that I found who he was.His name was Subaru Natsuki, also known as The Assassin Of Pride. A what-if scenario were the disaster I was a part of never happened. But a normal 11-year-old civilian Subaru Natsuki was still introduced to the moonlit world, through becoming a casualty of the second true magic and appearing at a place known as C.H.A.L.D.E.A. There, he was apparently being trained by various types of heroic spirits.
I don't have all of his memories. Mostly like because we either weren't 'connected' for so long, so we didn't really get the chance to share to many memories with each other, or most of the memories needs a wake-up call of some kind. The reason I believe that they need a wake-up call is that I sometimes get waves of images flowing through my mind and feelings of deja vú when doing or experiencing certain things.
That's the reason I didn't realise where I was until Emilia used the name 'Satella', a name of someone Natsuki was deeply connected to.
Speaking of Satella...'What the hell, women! I might have the same face and body as your so called-beloved, but I am NOT him!' I thought angrily, fully aware that Satella could hear me. Before I could continue spiting the half-devil, Emilia started to speak to me.
"Hey Subaru." She said.
"Hmm? Is something wrong, Emilia?" I asked her while turning to look at her.
"I just want to thank you for helping me with this." She said with a smile on her face.
"It's fine, and you have to stop thanking me otherwise you might cause me to develop an ego." I joked, which caused her to giggle a little.
We had been walking for a while now, and the berkano-fid stone had taken us to the slums.
All around us were broken houses, people of all ages who looked like they hadn't bathed in years... or eaten anything in years.
I frowned when I saw the people give us. A look of bitterness and hopelessness.'Something can never change regardless of what world or time era you are in.' I thought bitterly.
As we continued walking throughout the slums I saw a group of children between the ages of 4 and 7. They looked so hopeless, so uncomfortable dead inside that it felt too familiar.
I couldn't help but pity them, could I do something to help them? Maybe, but if I did that, I would have to choose not to help someone else. This is the sad and bitter truth of the world. That you just can't save everyone.I then noticed that Emilia were giving them a similar expression as I did. She was most likely blaming herself for being unable to help.
'She did tend to that in Assassin's timeline.' I silently thought while thinking of the few memories I have of the her from Assassin's timeline. I came to a halt and started to think for a moment before coming to a decision.
"Subaru?" I heard Emilia calling out to me, but choose to ignore her and walk up to the group of children.
I look down at them with a calm expression as they look up at me in fright but also with preparedness to run away at the moment I would show them any form of hostility.
