By the Sea

Pelican Town

I woke up at 6 am. An old habit: I always wake up early. I looked through the window and a beautiful dawn welcomed to my first morning, in Pelican Town. I wanted to cut some wild grass and move some rocks that during the years infested the space around the cottage.

I've found some tools in the cottage and I started to work. In the letter box there was a mysterious letter: "Come by the sea at 18, I have to lend you something. Willy" I was confused but I considered to go anyway out of curiosity.

It was 9 o'clock when the mayor came back. "So, how was your first night in the old cottage? Your grandpa used to complain about the rickety old bed. But I think, deep down, he actually loved that house." "It was ok, thanks mayor! I will get used to this." I was sweating.

"So catch you later in town, everybody look forward to meet you! The word that a new farmer it's here spread very fast in town. Oh, and don't forget to meet Pierre: he's the one who's going to sell you seeds and provide fertilizer. And doctor Harvey, for your... health."

"I will. I'm finishing this so I can start plating tomorrow morning." "Excellent! See you later!"

At noon it was done. Well of course not all the field was clean nut a small part to start harvest some parsnip. It was spring now, so there were many product to choose.

"All right! Let's go to the doctor."

She walked toward the town and noticed an old Bus on the road. She wondered for how long it has been there, with leaves growing on it. "I wonder where it used to go..."

And here she were. In the main square of the town, two women looked at her.

"Oh! You aren't exactly how I imagined... but that's okay! I'm Jodi.

It's a quiet little town, so it's very exciting when someone new moves in! Having a farmer around could really change things." Daisy blushed. "I really hope so... nice to meet you Jodi."

The second one, with green hair said : ""My husband runs the general store here. And have you met my daughter, Abigail? She's the pale one with the purple hair." "Oh, I'm just about to going to Pierre's shop. I'm going to meet him very soon. Have a nice day..."

They waved at me and I first entered Harvey's clinic.

It was a small studio but efficient, I just could tell. A man with hazelnut hair and thick glasses emerged from another room, his pants were open in the front but he didn't seem to notice.

He glanced at me: "It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Harvey, the local doctor. I perform regular check-ups and medical procedures for all the residents of Pelican Town. It's rewarding work. I hope you'll find your own work equally rewarding, in time." "Sure... are you... working right now ? I din't want to bother-" A tanned girl with glasses was putting her shirt back on. "No. It's allright it's just a check up. Maru, everything is good by the way."

"Hi Daisy. I'm Maru... Robin's daughter, you met her yesterday so she told me all about you. I hope we can be friends." "Sure. Nice to meet you, Maru." I left the clinic, I think I've interrupted something between those two...

It was Pierre's turn. I entered the shop and the bell attached to the door rang.

"Welcome, Welcome Daisy!" why were all of them so kind with me? "If you're looking for seeds, my shop is the place to go. I'll also buy produce from you for a good price! A little agriculture could really inject new life into the local economy!" "Speaking of which... I really would like to buy some parsnip seeds, please." "Here you go, have these... it's the best quality in town. Don't let Joja market blind you with their advertisement! HERE you can find the best prices!" "You have a Joja market in town?!" "Unfortunately yes. It's right after the river. On the West of the town..." He didn't feel to talk about that much. I understand it. A pale girl with purple hair was looking at us talking waiting to be introduced she looked 18/29 yo. "You must be... Abigail right?"

"How do you know my name?" "I met your mother, in the square before. That's why" "Oh, sorry. Nice to meet you." "I have an... appointment at the beach... catch later soon Pierre and Abigail."

Iwalked happily towards the beach, and passed a beautiful stone bridge to reachthe shore...
