ZOE'S POV

Her legs quickly gave up on her as the horrifying scene played out in front of her eyes. Through the tears, Zoe saw the car violently spin out of control, only stopping to fall onto its side.

The paramedics found her in the same position a few minutes later: hunched up on the ground, sobbing uncontrollably whilst screaming out Alfie's name.

Three words forced her to stand up and glance at the accident scene as she stood there, watching the paramedics preform CPR whilst the words continued to scream in her mind.

"WE'RE LOOSING HIM!"

That's all she could see and hear as she rode with them in the ambulance, those three words where the ones to ghost through her mind as she was told to stay in a separate room when he was rushed into surgery. Sleep quickly took over, but the images continued to haunt her dreams.

For the next 48 hours, Zoe sat in the chair at the end of his bed refusing to move. She couldn't bring herself to look at Alfie, eating and sleeping was a straight forward no.

The terrified girl didn't trust her voice, she was sure she'd burst into tears again if she opened her mouth.

Doctors voices were swarming through her mind:

"He's basically a vegetable"

"1/10 chances of surviving"

"Server complications if he wakes up"

Then came the one that caused Zoe to snap out of her trance.

"What about his daughter?"

Over his time in the hospital, Alfie's family and friends had come in and out of the room.

All of them greeting Zoe and attempting to offer her some kind of comfort. She'd coldly blanked them and they'd quickly realised that it was best to leave her alone. No one had mentioned Alfi-... Their daughter though.

*AMANDA'S POV* (Alfie's mother)

"How are you coping?"

Four words that I've heard way too much over the past few days.

I wasn't coping... I haven't had time to stop and think about what's happened.

Sleep's unheard of at the moment, it's been non-stop phone calls and hospital visits since the crash...

Then there's Rosie.

She was the one who'd answered the phone when the hospital called, the pinkish colour drained from her face within seconds as her feet crumbled to the ground.

Poppy had sat on the floor holding her shaking body for hours, family members and Alfie's closest friends had been informed and Marcus had tweeted to let those who still followed Alfie know what had happened.

Zoe had also been thrown into this mix, no one had talked to her...

She seemed to be locked in a trance, apparently she hash't left the hospital since the crash.

Maybe this was her way of apologising?

Maybe she regretted leaving?

Maybe something good would come out from all of this?

(a/n: MAYBE I SHOULD STOP BEING A SHITTY WRITER AND NOT USE SO MANY RHETORICAL QUESTIONS AYEEEE)

*ZOE'S POV*

I'd awoken from my light slumber to hear Amanda on the phone to Poppy; even in a sleep deprived state, it didn't take me long to figure out what they were talking about.

"Poppy, no, you can't bring her...

Alfie wouldn't want her to see him this way"

Zoe watched the woman who was like a second mother to her massage her head lightly as Poppy continued to shout down the phone.

"SHE'S STILL CRYING?....."

"No she needs to take her meds"

"I understand, try and get her to eat before you guys get here, I don't need her blacking out again"

"See you soon, love you Poppy"

Amanda smiled sweetly at me before speaking:

"How've you been, Zo?"

Before I could answer with my usual sickly sweet "i'm great! how are you?",

The walls that'd been hiding my emotions for the past five years came crumbling down and I soon found myself sobbing uncontrollably into my hands.

"That good ey?" asked Amanda sarcastically before going to comfort Zoe.

Every inch of her body wanted to hate her: she wanted to scream at her for causing her son and granddaughter so much pain.

She wanted Zoe to feel the pain that they did.

However something told her that she was already feeling every ounce of pain that they'd felt.

The older woman pulled the trembling girl into her arms, just like she'd done with Alfie after they'd broken up... And with Rosie after they'd been informed about the crash.

"GRANNY!! It's the pretty woman from the photos in daddy's room!"

That's all Zoe needed to fall asleep again.

She knew something good would come from all this.

Alfie would wake up and she'd be a mother to Rosie.

'BEEP BEEEP BEEEEP BEEEEP BEEEEEEEP BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP'

"EVERYONE OUT, I ONLY WANT DOCTORS AND NURSES IN HERE"

"SOMEONE GET THE CRASH CART, WE'RE LOOSING HIM"

"DADDY!! STOP THEY'RE TRYING TO KILL HIM!"

"WE'RE LOOSING HIM!"

"SOMEONE GET THAT WOMAN OUT OF HERE! NOW."

"QUICKLY, WE'RE LOOSING HIM"

"3, 2, 1.... CLEAR!"
