"Alfie she'll be fine... trust me, she won't even wake up!"

I sighed dramatically as I followed my mother into the kitchen. I'd finally managed to get Rosie to sleep and my mum was having a hard time getting me to leave.

After my only daughter had been diagnosed with separation anxiety at the young age of three, I rarely left her side.

"What if she wakes up? W-what if she panics or has a nightmare?! Y-you don't know how to clam her down.... No, i'm not going, I'll call Marcus and tell him not to pick..."

"ENOUGH ALFRED!"

The single parent cringed as his mum used his full name, but reluctantly glanced at her.

"Both me and Poppy will be here, you trust us, right?

"Yes, but I really don't-"

The older mother of two silenced her son quickly

"No buts, Alf. You're going to this party and you WILL have a good time. Go and get ready before Marcus and Niomi arrive"

He made his way upstairs before his mother could resume shouting at him and tried to find something decent to wear...

You could tell he was a father by glancing into his room... His bed was full of stuffed toys and a few barbies, Rosie's clothes were scattered around the room and she had placed her pink toothbrush in her dad's bathroom.

He hardly had room for his own clothes as his wardrobe was full of his five year old's costumes and old toys.

The ex-youtuber soon found an old suit that didn't have glitter or random food stains on it.

After showering quickly, he slipped into his old suit and emptied the pockets, finding an old friend....

*FLASHBACK*

The young couple giggled happily as they walked into the house they shared. It had been a long night of red carpet interviews and signings and both of them were completely exhausted.

Alfie made his way into the bedroom and slipped out of his suit, forgetting to take his camera out of the pocket, and threw the clothes into his wardrobe carelessly.

*end of flashback*

Alfie smiled sadly before turning on the old camera, he was pleasantly surprised to see that it still worked. A tear slipped down his face as he watched the footage of that night, he quickly exported it onto his laptop and let it play in the background as he finished getting ready.

"Daddy, who's the pretty lady dancing with auntie LouLou?"

The young father looked back into his bedroom to find his five year old sat on his bed with a sleepy smile on her face, watching the footage of one of the biggest female figures in her life, Louise and her mother...

"That's your mummy, sweetie" I said quietly to Rosie. She'd never seen any photos or videos of her mother, Alfie didn't want to confuse his daughter as Zoe regularly appeared on tv.

"She looks pretty when she smiles" replied Rosie sleepily.

"Yeah, just like you"

I quickly tucked Rosie into my bed and turned off my macbook.

"Where are you going daddy?"

I stroked my innocent daughters hair before replying nervously: "I'm going to go and find your mummy"
