2) Goodbye

Madelyn tells us to shake hands but I still find that hard gripping onto someone's hand that I'd later deprive. Or was it his generoucity to not look at me straight in the eyes but focus on the only part of us touching, our hands linked for just one last second as we both enter the Justice building. I hear the cheering of the crowd behind us but don't bear to ever look over my shoulder.

The peace keepers lead me to a room next to Cato's with perfect velvet fabric. Soon my step mom comes in followed by Ash and Faith, and right behind is Gem. "Gem." I breathe as I can see the tears falling down her cheeky face. But before I could get to her "You better win this, I don't care if Cato is in this too but I have made sure that he's allies with you already just keep yourself alive!" My step mom said pushing me to the wall. "Okay, okay I got it." I say rolling my eyes as if I need help from her.

I push her away and collapsed onto the floor, "I'm not playing games! Keep your eye on the prize!" she says now yelling, I nod. I only have a few more minutes maybe even less than one with Gem everything counts. Ash and Faith along with their mom went into a corner talking quickly to themselves. "Gem, Gem, Gem." I say rushingly. "What?" She said sobbing. "You have to promise me that whatever happens you won't do this to me, you have to avenge my death!" I say. "But you might win." She says her eyes red and blood like. "I'm not gonna win." I tell her. "You might." She says. "No, just whatever happens keep on fighting and know I'll always love you no matter what!" I say trying to sound positive.

Then one of the Peace Keepers came in, "It's time." they say. "Gem you'll be okay!" I say repeatedly. "I promise!" She yells just before the door closes.

Then I remembered that this is the Hunger Games meaning 24 kids fighting to the death. But did step mom really mean it that Cato and I are allies? I pull the golden barrette out of my hair and hold onto it. Squeezing it on the palms of my hands. I could hear screaming and banging at the room next to mine. It must have been Cato but what's he doing? Then another peace keeper comes in and escorts me out onto the train platform.

I've never been on a Capital Train, 200 miles an hour yet you couldn't feel anything. I sit down on the couch and Madelyn shows us the rest of the Reaping. Jacob came in, our mentor because he's district 2's most recent Victor. He knows we don't need mentoring because he's seen us at combat already. He's really only here for the Liquor. There really is nothing that stands out at the Reaping the only thing is from District 12, a volunteer that's a first. Oh God how much I really want to kill her right now. Katniss Everdeen.

"You can't keep to yourself forever we're allies right?" Cato says abruptly. "Oh, so we really are?" I say stiffly. "Same district, your awesome with knives, me I got some swords and spears on my side. It's a great pairing." He says. I couldn't tell if he was trying to be boastful but his voice just irritates the hell out of me. All of the sudden he places his arm around my shoulders, "What the hell are you doing?" I say my eyes narrowing. "What?" He says then he notices and still doesn't do anything about it. "Look allies or not I'm still gonna do this." He says and we both chuckle a bit. "I'm leaving." I say and walk out and go into my own compartment.

I take a shower and change into black leather pants and a soft green tank top, only leaving the the barrette in my hair. Night was falling and what I needed the most at the moment was sleep! I'd never think that Cato would be my ally but he's seen me train before he knows I can hit center target all the time. If this was my Destiny I might as hell do it right.
