Phoenix's POV
Next day
10am

"Nix! The rest of that group is here!" I hear Jimmy say and sigh as I Pat Junebug's head and her twin foals. I little Mare and a little Colt.

"How is she?" Jimmy asks as we walk back to the house, and I smile.

"Had twins. A mare and a Colt. Still working on names though." I say and he runs inside to be with Beth.

I walk over to where their group has gathered and see Rick telling them about last night, how Shane showed up alone.

I'm not stupid, I know what happened to Otis. Shane showed up with a dead guys gun, what else could've happened.

We hold a small service for Otis and Shane spews a line of BS and everyone but me and the guy in Rick's group with the crossbow believes him.

After the service I go inside and grab the county survey map I swiped from the gas station in town.

"County Survey map. Shows terrain and valleys." I say as I open it and set it on the hood of their car they brought.

"Great. Now we can finally get this organized." Rick says as they discuss and I decide to ask a question.

"How long has she been missing?" I ask and Shane looks to me.

"This will be going on day three." He says and I nod, not sure if the poor kid's alive anymore.

I'm on my way back to the stables to check up on Junebug and the twin babies, when I get stopped by an older guy and an Asian kid.

"Excuse me Miss, but what's the water situation here?" He asks and I smile politely at him.

"Got six wells on our land, well one runs directly to the house, but the well we use for cattle is just as pure. It's right over there." I say and he nods as they go to get some water and I head to the stables to check on Junebug.

As I enter, I see the guy with the crossbow petting Nelly and chuckle.

"Wouldn't ride her if I were you. I'd take Sandpaper instead. Nelly will throw ya cause she doesn't know ya." I say and he nods as he tries to find Sandpaper and I shake my head as I go to his stall.

"Come here boy." I say as I bring him out and the guy nods as he takes the reins.

"This is Sandpaper, my horse. He's about 5 years old and does well with new people." I say and he nods as I go to Junebug's stall and see her nursing the twin foals.

"Who's that down there?" He asks and I smile.

"Shawn's horse, Junebug. Sandpaper here is the foals' daddy. They were from the same breeder. Just a year apart in age." I say and he nods as he gets on Sandpaper and rides off.
