Paige Withlock

After making sure Taylor was okay she went to her bathroom and I went to my room to get ready to take a shower as well, I took off my costume and makeup and went under the water. My stomach clenches but I get used to the water falling on my body. I cleanse myself of any remaining impurities that my skin might have. I close my eyes and fill my chest with air in a frustrated attempt to regain any restorative sensation. The oxygen seems denser, harder to breathe in. I part my lips to ease the air in and open my eyelids again. I end up dizzily finishing my bath. I towel off to my room and see that my phone is vibrating, the screen was showing a call from an unknown number, the number had already called me twice while I was in the shower so I decide to answer.

"Hello?" I pronounce, as I throw myself on the bed wearing only a towel. Why is lying naked after a shower so comfortable?

"Hi Paige, what's your favorite horror movie?" I hear a voice obviously contrived to sound somber.

"Who is it?" I roll my eyes imagining it was just a prank call.

"You left your door open" it continued in a deep voice.

"I'm hanging up" I warn before doing so.

"No, wait" a normal voice exclaimed "It is Chris" he revealed.

"Oh, thanks for letting me know, now I really am going to hang up" I say and hear his voice sound loud again.

"No, you will want to listen to me" he stated and I let out a sigh before letting him continue "If you hang up I will destroy your book"

"You wouldn't do that" I quickly got up from my bed.

"Try me" he retorted "Be here in ten minutes or you'll get your book back in pieces" he said and before I could say anything he just hung up the phone.

Son of a bitch.

I went to my closet wearing an easy to put on overalls along with a long sleeve shirt, quickly put on my slides and placed my phone in my pocket. I opened the door and before I went downstairs I got close to Taylor's door and could hear her earphones blaring loudly. She will go deaf one day, but better for me. She doesn't need to know I'm going to the triplets' house. She would say it's silly to go there just to get a book, but Miss Abella gave it to me so thoughtfully that I would feel very bad if I let that brat screw it up. I went downstairs and out the front door. It was one in the morning and the lingering cold was intolerable. I walked a little towards the house across the street and saw Christopher's silhouette standing in front of door waiting for me. I was greeted with a sneaky smile on his face.

"Wipe that smile off your face, where's my book?" I asked without much patience.

"It's in my room, let's go inside" he said and took small steps to the door "And don't make a sound, I don't want my brothers to know you're here" he lowered his tone as he opened the door.

"What if I want to scream?" I threatened.

"You''ll never see your precious book again" he said and I rolled my eyes.

As soon as we entered the huge house he guided me to his room upstairs, we went in slow steps without making any noise and as soon as we were inside the room with the door closed he threw himself on his bed in a lazy way.

"Where's my book, you idiot?" I asked.

"It should be somewhere" he gestured with his hand as he pulled his phone out of his pocket and then started watching tiktoks.
