Seeing Paige running into the house caught me off guard, I thought she was just joking when she said she was sick with me and Matt, but when we heard her grunts coming from the bathroom we all had the same worried look on our faces. We ran into the bathroom and spotted Paige sitting on the floor in her feverish condition, and I quickly went over to her holding her hair and lightly stroking her back. Matt had the face of a worried father, the kind who doesn't know how to act but seemed to want to help somehow, Christopher was static, as if he had seen a ghost, he was pale and for a moment I thought he was going to throw up too.

"Matt, go to her room and get her toothbrush, please" I asked and he didn't hesitate to do as I requested "Chris, get some sparkling water from the fridge" I asked now to the boy who didn't seem to hear "CHRIS?!" I called him out of his shock "Go get some sparkling water" I repeated and he did so.

When Paige finally seemed less nauseous she sat up straight and looked at me with watery eyes, I put my hand on her forehead to see if she might have a fever but her temperature seemed normal.

"Here you go" Matt appeared at the door again and I assisted Paige to stand carefully, she seemed to still have strength. I took the toothbrush and toothpaste from his hands and gave it to Paige, I left the bathroom so she could brush her teeth by herself and Christopher arrived with his face clean and a bottle of sparkling water in his hands.

"What does she got?" Matt asked in a low tone.

"I don't know, maybe food poisoning?" I shrugged "Chris, did you guys eat anything when you were out?" I directed at the boy who shook his head.

"Do you think you might be sick too and that's why your nose started bleeding?" Matt asked his brother and he shrugged, still quiet and before I could question his behavior we heard the front door open, it was my mom arriving from her shift at the hospital. Great, I don't know if I could take care of Paige on my own.

"Oh, Mom, thank God, Paige is sick," I warned and she put her purse on the hanger and frowned.

"Does she have a fever?" she asked urgently.

"I didn't have time to find the thermometer, but her body temperature seems to be normal" I informed and before she could ask any more questions, Paige came out of the bathroom with a twisted face.

"Honey, how are you feeling?" my mom walked over to her ignoring me and the boys.

"I'm better now, I think I must have eaten something bad" she replied as my mom put her hand on her forehead the same way I did before.

"Are you sure? We can go to the hospital" my mom always insisted that we go to the hospital even when our situation was not so serious.

"It's okay, I'm fine" Paige tried to reassure her.

"Are you sure it was just food poisoning?" she ran her hands through Paige's black hair in a caring way.

"I don't know, maybe..." she gave a shrug.

"It could also be..." Christopher spoke quietly, and looked at me and Matt which took us a while to understand what he meant but as soon as he arched his eyebrows guiltily I understood what he wanted to say.

"Oh my God, Chris, no! It was yesterday, that's not how it happens" I scolded him and he relaxed his shoulders and sighed deeply, was that why he was all weird? Did he think he got my sister pregnant?
