Just as the realization settled we entered a peaceful talk, speaking about everything and anything at the same time as sleep started to make itself known between us but each one fighting it to stay awake for the other, coming quietly but effective given the fact that I only realized I fell asleep when I woke up, around an hour after.
Rolling to my side I was met with a mess of brown hair and arms around my body, holding me close as if his calm slumber depended on it, gently taking his hands off of me I got up grabbing a change of clothes and taking a shower.
I picked up the clothes from the floor, quietly tidying up my room so it wouldn't look like such a mess when he wakes up. After folding up some clothes I decided to head downstairs to try and remake the cookies for Paige, also cleaning up the kitchen while humming a song that I couldn't remember the exact lyrics. When I realized I still had to clean the baking sheets I noticed I needed real music, quickly running up to my room to grab my phone and noticing Matt still dead asleep but in a different position. I returned downstairs now with a low song playing, after getting everything I needed and washing the pan I started the recipe, as I was finishing it I grabbed the baking sheet at the same time as I felt arms around my waist, hugging me from behind.
"What are we doing?" He asked, resting his head on top of mine.
"I am doing a new batch of cookies" Giving an extra tone on 'I' since he just arrived and was already trying to take credit.
"Try not to burn these too" He now fully rested his head on me, seeming tired.
"Sorry did I wake you?" I slightly distanced myself to look at him.
"No, I was awake not long after you left the shower, I was just lazy to get up" Matthew admitted laughing.
"Did you shower?" He was back on his clothes from earlier.
"I don't have any clothes so I might just shower at home" He went away to grab a bottle of water and I felt the air filling the space he was before, missing the heat he provided.
"Speaking of home, Paige is still away" I reminded him "I don't want to assume the worst and think that she probably knocked your brother out, but we have to be realistic" I joked around trying to ease myself, I was pretty rational with things but when it involved my sister I thought about every outcome. For her I turned sentimental. But I wouldn't tell her that.
"Or maybe they made up and are friends now" Matthew said, grabbing the bottle and coming back to the table.
"You know" He started to get my attention "I never knew you could cook" He kept his gaze fixated on the flour being poured on the bowl.
"You never asked?" I replied confused.
"I'm trying to make conversation" He rested his chin on top of the water bottle.
"You suck" I chuckled "But at least you try, I'll give you that" I pointed the spoon at him.
And with that we fell into an awkward silence, neither of us knowing if we should say something. Start a conversation or just stay in silence. After some time when I was finishing up the batter I felt more comfortable, having him there was somewhat calming. He was watching me intensively, I felt bothered under his eyes here and there but nothing I couldn't manage. It's funny to think that not even 3 hours ago we were having sex and now I can't even make a cookie dough without feeling uneasy with him just looking at me.
