CIARA

Secrets were always an issue for me since I was a young girl. I felt as if I was already an outsider in this pack and with the possible knowledge Kylan may not even be Kumori's daughter not only infuriated me but also stirred up a memory:

FLASHBACK

"She's just a baby!" I hear a man growl out.

I was laying on a makeshift bed pretending to be asleep not knowing who these men were and why we were in this room. I knew they were bad men and my heart was hurting. I knew what happened to my parents and I was doing my best to be strong for my twin sister as she lay next to me asleep.

"They're probably around four years old" I hear one of the bad men yell back. "The girl will be fine in the woods. I am sure someone will find her."

I hear what sounds like a struggle and then something falls hard on the floor.

Who were they talking about being fine in the woods? I didn't want to think the worse, but somehow, I knew it was about my sister and if I needed to protect her, I will make sure they don't take her away from me. I remember my daddy teaching us some self-defense moves even if we are too small to hurt anyone, but he told my sister and me we had something special in us and our strength will eventually get stronger to protect each other and others. Daddy said we would know when the time came to help those in need and knew starting us young would help us become stronger faster. Thinking back, I knew now was the time to use what little daddy taught us, if it came down to it. I will not lose someone else, especially my sister. I lean into my sleeping sister and tighten my hold on her as I pray to the goddess for protection for my sister and me.

A feeling of warmth flows through my body and I start to feel calm as I caress my sister's dark flowing hair from her face. We didn't look alike at all, except for our long flowing dark hair. My sister looked more like my daddy, with his lighter features and silver blue colored eyes and I looked more like my mommy with her tan complexion and hazel-colored eyes.

I hear quick and heavy footsteps approaching the room my sister and I are in. I quickly close my eyes and hold on tighter to my sleeping sister knowing I am probably hurting her right now. The door swings open and within seconds I feel rough hands wrap around my waist, lift me up and place me over their shoulder while my feet dangle in front of him. I don't want to move. I need to wait and be patient like daddy taught us.

"Grab the other one and get going. Alpha has other plans for this one." I hear the bad man who's holding me whisper.

There is no way I am going to let them take my sister from me. I open my eyes and see a hidden hooded man approach my sleeping sister. Think Ciara, think! A memory of my daddy showing me how to get out of someone's arms comes to mind and I smile to myself. Even though I am lying on the bad man's shoulder I slowly lift my knees in a curling position as if I am trying to get comfortable and then I tighten my upper body before I forcefully kick off the man holding me and flip away from him backwards, knocking him away from me with so much force I can gather. I notice the shock look on the bad man's cold looking face before he hits the back of his head on the bed post hard. He falls to the floor with his head hitting the floor hard, and I see blood leaking out of the side of his face. I have no time to think how gross the bad man looks like as the other bad man holding my sister tries to kick me. I flip backwards again landing softly on my two feet with my back facing the door.

"You little shit!" The creepy bad looking man growls. His cloaked hood slid off his face while he was trying to adjust my sister in his arms, and I could not help the chills that engulfed my body while I watch him struggle a little with my sister. How in the world was she still sleeping through all of this?
