Chapter 7: Don't Fret and Regret

I couldn't help it, once I get an idea I can't look back. This was injudicious if I listened to Onii-chan's advice this never would have happened. No wonder whenever I'm home alone he is always "Don't be impulsive!" Kuyashii this is getting annoying. That made me remember something Onii-chan would say if me and Satsuki do something wrong.

"Don't fret and regret"

Also, why hasn't Taro called or texted me yet? It's already after school, I even checked the clock! He's probably busy conducting a plan to get rid of Bakane or studying. I won't bother him if I do he will get annoyed and say his usual axiom.

"Nandayo Rei-chan! Onanji koto o nando mo iwasenaide: Hottoite yo watashi itsu benkyoushite imasu ka!" ("Bloody hell Rei! Don't make me say it again: Leave me alone when I'm Studying!") Since he is so focused on making his strict parents satisfied.

That's when I realized it. If Onii-chan were to go to that vexatious office to deal with some rice or salt thing, wouldn't he realize that this journal is missing? Great, now I had to go in the 'Danger Hazard Demon Office' again. This time I will just unlock the password lock, go in, put the journal back on the table and dart out as fast as I can, if the tape is peeling again, I will just throw the book onto table. If it doesn't land in the same spot as it was in before, I don't care either way.

Hiding behind one of the hedges close to the math block, Taro was waiting for Akane to get there. He looked through the leaves and saw a figure with a tight black ponytail and a designer bag, it was Akane. Taking out his phone, Taro quickly went into Voice Recorder and recorded the whole conversation.

"So why did you want me to come here?" probed Karin

"Yesterday at P.E. you insulted me, so now you have to pay," Akane grinned. "as the fastest girl in the entire grade, you will run 800 metre thrice with Ichika on your back against Machi Obake, the slowest grade sixes next week on Tuesday."

"What?! Why are you asking me to do that?! Run the 800 metre track with Ichika on my back against my brother's ex-friend, no way I'm doing that!?" yelled Karin.

"What if I said this; You win I won't bug you or your stupid friends for the rest of the school year, and I'll keep you and your friends out of suspension or being expelled till the end of the year." she bribed.

"What if you win though?"

"You and your pesky friends will have to be my slaves until the end of the school year," Akane sneered. "also put me on a date with your brother when we are in second year middle school. After all, you and I are headed to the same middle school"

"Wait, wait, wait, I'm fine with being your slave but that is a step too far missy! My brother is not an auction prize, he doesn't like you and you're not going to force me to abide with that stupid wager of yours!" roared Karin. "And you can do nothing to make me agree to that unfaithful gamble!"

At a near moment of a well-known Karin Snap, Akane grabbed Karin's tie and brought her face close to hers. "If you don't do it, I will get you and your pitiful friends out of this school and one day marry your brother whether he likes it or not. Oh, and that's not it! If I can't get you out of this seminary, I will violate you until your bones and positive mental status breaks like a tree branch in a hurricane."

"No! N O!" Karin argued, such a cruel punishment.

"You little-" Akane grabbed Karin collar and punched her nose hard, making it bleed rose red. Taro was stunned to see this, yet was saddened by this, his friend getting hurt like this, what is more, he can't help way with searching for the answer to her other problem.

Taro left the app and went into his phone settings to turn off the sound and vibration of his notifications. He then went into his messages and texted Rei a sad message explaining of why he can't help with searching for the answer to her supernatural difficulty. She then replied instantly.

Hi Akabane-san, sorry but I can't help with that other non-Sato related problem, I'm a bit held up with a minor problem between Sato and Salmon Daikon Addict, I hope you can understand too, there are certain days where I can use my laptop to do research on Yokai. Thank you for understanding.

It's fine Taro-san. I'll try and get some information myself.

In the meantime, it was 3:10, Kaiyo was waiting for Karin. He continuously keeps on looking down wristwatch keeping track of time, Karin's never this late, she's always either five minutes or seven minutes, not ten. The seconds hand ticked on the twelfth mark, officially making the time eleven minutes past three. A fountain of negative thoughts came flowing down his mind. Where is she? Did something happen to her? What if I don't see her again?

Don't fret and regret Kaiyo. The young boy had and instinct to find his sister, he ran around the school yelling the word "Karin where are you?!" until he heard a bit of commotion around the math block drinking fountain. It was Akane and Karin arguing. Kaiyo sneaked behind the same hedge where Taro was.

"What are you doing here?" Kaiyo mouthed.

"I'll tell you tomorrow." replied Taro.

Akane stuffed her hand into her pocket, grabbing a sharp black object. It was a dart. The foolish child wounded Karin with the dart in her eye. Karin shrieked out loud in pain, crying whilst falling to her knees.

"Okay fine! I-I'll do it, just p-please, please st-stop!" cried Karin.

"As I thought you-"

"Futari tomo yamenasai!" Kaiyo shouted, the sudden voice of Kaiyo shocked Akane. (Both of you, stop it!")

"I- Kaiyo what are you doing here?!" Akane asked, shaking in her shoes.

"Yamete, kikitakunai!" (Stop it, I don't want to hear it!") That voice, the anger, made Akane flee act at the sight of the crime she has committed. Taro paused the recording he made and ran to Karin's side to ask Kaiyo if she will be fine.

"Don't bother," stated Kaiyo. "just go home already, you owe me an explanation tomorrow." Taro sprinted home, shedding a few tears along the way. When he got to his room, he jammed his head into the pillow and cried into it.

As for the Yuzuriha siblings? Kaiyo carried both his bag, his sister and Karin back home to tend to the injuries.

Being home alone is boring, some may have the freedom to do whatever they want when they're alone but me? I must follow my brother's rules. Yet there is no restrictions with using the touchscreen laptop. Since Taro can't help me with some research, I must do it myself. In one of Mum's entries, it said 'wrath of Sukima Onna' who is this?

I got out my laptop from the charging spot (wooden chair) next to the table where I do my homework. As I entered the password, I started to think, does this thing eat humans? Taro mentioned the word 'Yokai' when he texted me. What could be the connection between these two words?

I know my brother said 4:00, but it's already 3:45 so might as well do it now.
