The land Rei looked among was different than the environment she was used to, buildings were a spectacle monument, with intricate designs and traditional highlights. Those were for the Royal Family, the ruling family of Japan. the Shogun, the members of powerful families in the real name of the Shogun, wielding power over the military. the Daimyo, the wealthy landowners. Those buildings also were temples for prayers and training grounds for the Samurai, Japan's powerful warriors.
The smell of smoke filled the air, a petite girl was tied to the pole, on the verge of death. All Rei saw in the burning girl's eyes was anger. Rage. Fury. She recognised them, the demon from the cracks, except, when she was human. Sukima was executed. With her dying breath, she yelled out, "One day, one day, one day I swear upon my soul, you will regret, will regret what- what you've done to, done to me. I, I, I swear you will regret everything. I swear on my soul, I will never, never, never rest in peace." broken words were all she said. The people mocked her, contorted their faces at her and chortled at her while she was in despair and annihilation. Rei wished that she could do something to help, find a way lend her aid, but... she couldn't. Time has passed, and life has burnt the imperfections to cover up the past, to make it seem like this world was perfect all along. To make sure the weavers of this plain has not made a single mistake in creating this "flawless world." Lies. Ash rained as the people brought her body down and stuffed it in a bag before running off in a distance to hide the body.
Sure, they could've hidden the body underground, into the river, or somewhere more, unknown to not draw the attention of the others. Well, guess what? They decided to stuff the poor girl into the nearest cracks and gaps, easily having the burnt body forced into the crack and left there. Absolutely rude. Over time they just forgot about her, but her soul is now bound to the place she has been placed to rest for all of eternity, every crack and gap in the wall.
Sukima never rested, her soul watched as humanity grew into such impetuous creatures, always killing whoever stands in their way, bargaining and stealing money. Over decades of boredom, she found an ability, an advantage. From her lair, Sukima was able to intimidate and manipulate any victim from whom stares upon the crevice she watches. She enables herself to 'walk' through the paths that connect our world to hers, the Mnemonic Abyss. Once the prey is weak enough, Sukima drags them into the damned realm, to become a ghost to realm the still world of the inverted domain.
The shared history began to fade away as if it was ink released in water as the dark colours settled back into the dark other world. And there she was, the one and only: Sukima Onna, glaring back at her.
"Now do you know?" her distorted voice inquired.
"Know what?" the mortal child hissed back.
"Cruelty, torture, suffering, vengeance. All for selfish humans to possess. I know what you will say, 'the world has changed,' but it has not. There are no noble people on the neutral plain. All of them are here, in the Abyss."
"There are still noble people up there!" Rei spat foolishly. "Times have changed."
"Then name someone then, true of noble, not of riches but of mind." Rei's mind went running across one side to another as the only people she could think of were already dead.
"Fine then, my parents." she acknowledged.
The gap woman laughed, "They were noble? Oh, please they didn't even get lost at sea during that so called cruise."
"You don't even know anything about them you monster!" scowled Rei.
"You can even ask anyone else in the Abyss, and even your sleep deprived brother of yours! They never drowned or got lost during that cruise every bloody person talked about for five months which was never seen nor heard of again. In fact, they didn't even go on that cheerless cruise in the first place." the malignant spirit grinned.
"What the hell do you want from me?!" yelled Rei.
Back in reality, the news had reached to the school and Tatsuya... unfortunately. Class E4 heard about this, the brave but foolish Akabane Rei has fallen into a coma as majority of the class didn't bloody care nor took any consideration about Akane and her little rats snickered at this. Karin remained surprised and worried. Akane gave a bitter smirk as she merely rolled her eyes at the enemy's remark.
From the window, Shuyona Taeko overheard the news as she planned to escape her literature teacher's lesson, she always had a stable relationship with the Akabane girl. also, being incredibly timid, quiet, and knowledgeable while Rei was more... well- confident yet also impetuous. The younger Shuyona sibling learnt a thing or two from her older brother's friend, this time, she was about to put to the test. Taeko got rid of her plan of ditching her class, but to escape school to find the hospital Akabane Rei rested in, she may be silent and shy, but that does not mean that she does not have the brains equal to her brother nor the inability to organise a strategy to escape prison. There were always too many students at Osaka anyway, and this time, Shuyona Taeko will not follow any rules, not her parents, not her brother's, not the schools, no one.
Author's Rant:
Well at least I got to submit and yes I will continue on my stories, but don't expect much from 'Moonlit Stroll' though. I do apologise for any inconvenience, but seriously:WHY DOES WATTPAD HAVE TO BE SET ON AMERICAN ENGLISH, I CAN BARELY TYPE WITHOUT 1 ERROR PER BLOODY SENTANCE.
Link in da comment, I will try and post a new one whenever it expires, but discord enjoys kicking me in the face so oh well if I don't succeed.
