The rising sun came passing by Rei's empty window, indicating a small, colourblind girl will come barging through the door, any minute from now. Any moment. The sound of silence always felt strange for Rei, no sound, no voice, not even a sound of movement. She remembered that this was the exact same feeling she had last night when the thing whispered. Rei immediately knew something isn't right. Satsuki always, no matter what, always comes to her or Tatsuya first thing in the morning, and by now she should have been pounding on the door. Something's not right, she could feel it in her gut, where is that child?
Both Karin and Kaiyo waited for their parents and sister to leave the house impatiently. The clock's ticking sound just made them- well mainly Karin, more eager to get out that door. As minutes went by, Karin was rolling around in her bed waiting for the moment they would leave. Kaiyo of course, was continuing his essay, but was really just waiting for the moment to see Karin rushing out of her room. It is entertaining though. The Yuzuriha house is usually always filled with noise, from either music, writing, tapping, oh how I could go on ranting, he just waited for the sound of cars leaving and utter silence, then the sibling duo can elope. By the clock's ninth strike, Karin came dashing out her room and straight to where Kaiyo was yesterday. "You ready yet?" she asked eagerly. Kaiyo sighed at the impatience and answered back, "Yes, now just get out the door and go to the oval, I'll be at the back.
How my day could've been better. Looks like SOMEONE has Head Lice. Again. Well at least I won't have the need to be alone again. Oh wait, Onee-san has to go to Uni today and my annoying head banging sister cannot stay alone with me. So my brother got out the Head Lice shampoo remover thing and got to work dealing with Satsuki's hair. Not the first time she has had it. Me? Only once, and it was a living nightmare last year. When you put Head Lice and my brother together, it's war. No lies, but war. Looks like I'll be alone again, in this haunted house. Hooray. But if something goes out on its way to kill me, I will probably end up GONE on either Monday or Tuesday. What did I do this time? Tell me. What. Did. I. do. WHATDIDIDO!
My life would be way easier if:
1. There was no Akane.
2. Parents alive and here.
3. Satsuki + no Head Lice.
4. Good sleep.
5. Motivation.
6. I didn't meet that wall demon Yokai whatever it is.
7. No wall demon haunting my lazy mind.
8. No wall demon watching me sleep.
9. All the above.
I make a solid point, don't I? I can hear it, the ear piercing sound of Satsuki yelling. And trust me, one way or another, Tatsuya will get all those pests out, one way or another. Which means I'll be home alone again...yay. Not in a good way.
The moment I stepped foot on the soft grass of the oval, I just couldn't wait for Kaiyo to finally get here. Oh, just let me run to my heart's content already! I waited and waited for Kaiyo to finally arrive. Gee he
sure was taking his dear sweet time. As always, not surprised. After waiting so long, my slow brother finally came. "Go to the starting point, I'll wait all the way at the end to tell you the time you got compared to Obake's when you start running." is what he said when he arrived. "Alright slowpoke." I teased back, it's a sibling thing, for most of us.
I waited for Kaiyo to yell go so I can start. As I ran to my highest advantage as Kaiyo did his normal walk to the finish line. By the time he reached there, I was a bit past the halfway sign. I know for a fact that I win against Obake easily when it's the 400m (Half Mast) 800 makes me lose my energy a lot quicker than usual. But I will win. No matter what the stakes are. As I was nearing to the end I heard Kaiyo yell something. "10 more seconds, 10 seconds before you're out of time!" The moment I heard that very phrase, I started sprinting for life. I will get there before the timer, I will. Just a few seconds, that's all I need. More time, more. Three seconds, three seconds after the timer blew. I didn't make it this time, well, first time's not the charm. I ran the track over and over again, countless times. But I didn't prosper, or so I thought.
As expected, Tatsuya got out as many lice as possible, he didn't stop until Satsuki's hair was clear from the pests.
And with it being clear, it fits the day-care's expectations, which leaves our protagonist on her own in such a large region. As any person would feel when they have nothing to do, zero motivation, is a kid, and thinks the house is haunted, Rei was bored to death. She just lied around on the couch on her stomach, not doing anything productive. Last time I checked, it was a classic state of tedium.
Well then, since she had nothing to do, she thought whether the wall girl was actually good, and not what they say she is, or if she was really pulling her leg. It was clear in Rei's current state of mind she was serious of reconsidering her actions. Is she good? Is she lying? Is she really who they say she is? The Sukima Onna? The Gap Woman? Or...the Demon of Hide and Seek. Only one way to find out. Taking a turn on the steep mountain road she cannot undo. Now time she will not forget. A permanent scar on the porcelain China doll.
They desperate to know, desperate to find out, desperate to win, desperate to find the truth. Desperate in ways that are unimaginable, and uncountable.
