Aegon Targaryen

"This is the third time this week I've received a complaint about the two of you."

This was not the first time Aegon and I had been scolded by the Queen. Though I was not a trouble maker in any way, the eldest Targaryen boy seemed to always be able to drag me into whatever chaos he was getting himself into. I faced forward towards Queen Alicent, my hands crossed politely in front of me. I had a serious expression on my face, nodding slowly as she continued to lecture the two of us.

"First it was running from Ser Cole, then it was the incident with the maesters-"

The Queen's words started to drown out as I felt a small tug on the body of my dress. I subtly shifted my gaze to look to the side, spotting Aegon. He stood basically right beside me, though he was not giving his mother the same attention I was. His body was turned slightly towards me, his head lowered as he stared down at the side of my dress. My eyes then shot down to his hand, which was fidgeting with one of the pieces of lace that was sewn to the skirt of the gown I wore.

My gaze quickly shot back up to the Queen, who was still speaking to us, though I wasn't sure what about now. My hand subtly swatted the boy's away from my dress, trying my best to keep my eyes up on Alicent the entire time. I could hear him let out a quiet huff as his hand was pushed away, along with the sound of his feet shifting against the floor. His hands moved to rest behind his back, his eyes wandering around the throne room walls.

"You have my deepest apologies, your Grace. I'm sorry for any trouble we caused," I said in a firm, genuine tone.

The Queen's eyes remained focused on me, her gaze softening slightly as I apologized. She gave me a small, slow nod before responding.

"Thank you, young Lady. Though, I'm afraid it is not your apology I am truly seeking."

I watched as her gaze shifted over to Aegon, who was still basically just staring off into space. Alicent cleared her throat after a long moment of silence, which seemed to snap Aegon out of his trance. His head shook slightly as his eyes darted over to his mother, widening to the size of golfballs in the process. His hand rose slowly, his finger pointing at himself.

"Me?" he asked, the tone of his voice giving away how truly confused he was.

Alicent's eyes closed as she let out a strained sigh, slowly turning away from the two of us. She began to walk away, pausing only for a second to speak again.

"I want you to go dust down the corridor outside of your chambers, Aegon. The remnants of your last jest still remain on the walls."

Aegon's mouth fell agape and my face scrunched up slightly, my eyes darting over towards him to give the boy an extremely judgmental look. Alicent left the hall without another word, not taking whatever protests Aegon gave. His arms fell to his sides, huffing again as he turned to the exit of the throne room. He started walking, speaking as he strode away.

"C'mon, then. There's work to be done."

I scoffed at him, shaking my head before following after him. Though I was completely shocked by the fact that he expected me to help out, it wasn't like I had anything else to do today. Aemond had been out training since the break of dawn and Helaena was... well actually no one really knew where she was. She'd been lost for most of the day.

"And why in the Seven Hells would you expect me to help you?" I asked in an amused tone once I had caught up with him. Aegon wore a wide, toothy grin on his face as he tilted his head down to face me.

"You may do whatever you please... I just figured you would have nothing better to do."

He was right, of course, but hearing it come from him made my blood boil. His words along with the smug grin on his face made me want to strike him across the cheek. Aegon continued to look down at me as we approached the exit of the hall. I'm guessing that he took my rage filled silence as a yes, as he lazily slung his arm over my shoulder. I rolled my eyes softly, letting out a strained sigh.

Outside of Aegon's room, the corridors were bustling with servants and housekeepers. There was no one to help with the mess, though. I assumed Alicent had probably warned everyone not to lend a hand. The walls outside of his chambers were covered in what looked like some kind of dust, though I had no way of knowing what exactly it was. I had asked the boy as we made our way there, but he seemed completely unwilling to share. A group of women passed us as we came to a stop outside of Aegon's room. I watched as his a wide grin formed on his face, his eyes and body beginning to shamelessly follow them as they walked. I suddenly slammed my elbow into the prince's side, earning a loud grunt from him as well as a quick, "Hey-"

I simply rolled my eyes at him, pushing his arm off of my shoulder and reaching for one of the abandoned rags that laid on the floor. I got down to the floor, pushing my dress to flow down away from me. I could feel Aegon's eyes on me as I began to wipe away the dust that resided on the walls, though I could not see the expression on the boy's face. He stared with a bewildered look, as if he were surprised that I was actually helping him. His feet shifted lightly under him again before he suddenly snapped out of his small trance, reaching for another spare rag.

We cleaned in silence, each of us not having any words for the other. I was not mad about cleaning and despite his silence, Aegon was incredibly thankful for the help. When we were done, hours had passed by. The servants and housekeepers had returned to their own homes and chambers, leaving the corridor empty. We sat across from each other on the floor of the hallway, chatting about random subjects.

None of the words that were spoken were of any importance and no notable conversations were had, but we appreciated the company.
