At the wheel, Jessica started the car and pulled out of the parking lot of the apartment complex.
"Aren't you excited to see John after all this time?" Jessica asked, and Charlie shrugged. Still unsure if it was really John. "Jessica... I've been thinking.. What if that's not John?" Jessica didn't take a look away from the road, but she made a weird face like she just smelt rotten cheese. "He's real, Charlie. I promise." She said finally, and Charlie sighed, looking out the window.
When they finally got to their destination, Jessica hopped out of the car, and Charlie followed. Charlie took a big gulp of air, like the things she might find inside Carlton's childhood home might change her life. Jessica was already at the door, and she waved Charlie over. Jessica opened the door to be greeted by Carlton's dad, Clay.
"Hey, Clay!" Jessica said cheerfully, and Clay waved back to her, "Carlton and Marla are upstairs." Jessica nodded, and Clay let them through the door. Once Charlie got inside, she looked around at Clay's visible depression since Betty left. All there was lying around were empty bottles of vodka or whiskey. She frowned at the mess, feeling the pain that he was going through. "This is sad." Jessica must've noticed them, too, and Charlie nodded in agreement.
Stomping came from the stairs, and the lower part of Carlton and Marla's bodies appeared, then the rest of them appeared visible as they came down the steps. Marla came up to them both and gave them a big hug. Charlie smiled, Marla's hugs are always the best.
"Hey, Carlton.. When is John going to get here?" Jessica asked, and Carlton spoke, "He said over the phone he was going to be here in a couple of minutes." All of a sudden, the door knob twisted, and John appeared on the other side. Charlie looked him up and down, his new clothes making him look like a business man. He had on a dark-grey plaid blazer, unbuttoned, he also had on a black button-up shirt, the collar perfectly adjusted, black pants, with not a single wrinkle in them, and a brown belt. Though, his face still looked like John. He had the messy hair he has had since he was a kid, he has never been able to keep it neat, and he had a sharp jawline like the last time she saw him.
"You look nice, John." Charlie came out of the crowd and walked up to him. "Thanks," John said awkwardly, "I could say the same to you, nice dress." John wasn't very fond of making conversation, especially if he hadn't seen said person in a while. He doesn't mean to be awkward, but it's just how he is.
"I have to ask you something..." Charlie started, "Do you remember what you said to me that night?" Charlie looked into John's eyes, his eyes almost looked like they were glossed over, like he was half-way dead. "I don't remember anything from that night, I'm sorry, Charlie." He said, and Charlie sighed. She searched his eyes once more. That's not John. She thought. "It's fine." Charlie's mind went back to a few minutes right before John died. John pulled her close, almost sweeping her into a hug in his strong arms. He was strong enough that she couldn't possibly get out of his grasp, and he looked directly into her eyes, the emerald green of his eyes shining into the dark of the room. "If I die, Charlie... Never forget that I love you."
"I'm not letting you die, John!" Charlie cried.
"I will not let William Afton torment my friends any longer. He wants me, Charlie."
Charlie hugged him, accepting that this was it. That John was willing to make this sacrifice to save his friends. John let her go, leaving her in the dark.
John put a hand on Charlie's shoulder, and she woke up from her daydream. "Charlie? You were zoning out."
"I have to go." Charlie came up to Jessica, tapping her on the shoulder. "What is it, Char?" Jessica turned around. "Can we go home?" Charlie asked.
"Why? Are you not having fun?"
"Let's just go!" Charlie held onto Jessica's arm, dragging her outside to the car.
"Charlie! What's wrong with you?" Jessica snapped at her, and Charlie had a wild look at her face. "That. Is. Not. John." She said, getting in the car. Jessica got in as well, starting the car and going home.
