Charlie started her car, driving off the campus to Jessica's apartment. She had gotten permission from Jessica to stay in her apartment until she could pay for her own. She thought about Carlton's party. At first, she considered going, just for the fun of it. After all, it would compensate for her being a horrible friend all these months. She didn't even remember any of her friends birthdays, and they were friends since forever. She put John at the back of her mind, trying to forget his whole existence for the time being. When she entered the town of Hurricane, she immediately started looking around for Jessica's apartment building. She gave Charlie very specific details, so she didn't have a very hard time finding it.
Charlie turned into the small parking lot, making sure to not hit any cars in the slim spot. Charlie closed the car door, and walked inside. "My spare key is under my Welcome mat!" Jessica told her before she left St. George. What a stupid place to hide it, Charlie thought. She looked under the welcome mat, and there it was. She picked the keys up. The silver of the key shining in the light. When the key made a clicking sound in the key hole, she opened the door. The smell of perfume immediately hit her nose, almost knocking her down. Charlie closed the door behind her, looking around at the freshly cleaned apartment. Before long, Charlie laid down on the couch, trying to drift off to sleep. Before she knew it, Jessica walked in the door.
"Charlie! I'm so glad you're making yourself at home." She spoke, and Charlie groaned, her neck cramping up in the current position she was in. "When does that party thing start?" Charlie asked, her hair a fluffy mess.
"Seven O'clock. It's six right now."
Charlie went back to flipping through all the TV channels, when she came across an ad for a new pizzeria in town. Flashing lights and loads of colors came on the screen, bouncing to the walls of the room. "Circus Baby's Pizza World..." Jessica said, "It sounds oddly familiar. Pizza? Animatronics?" Charlie turned around to look her in the eye, "Don't talk about it." Charlie's mind flashed back to Twisted Freddy, the animatronic who trapped John inside of all of it's springlocks.
"I need help finding an outfit for tonight." She wanted to change the topic. Jessica jumped in the air, seemingly excited. "We have to make you look good! To impress John." Jessica teased, and Charlie rolled her eyes. She wasn't trying to impress anyone. She just wanted answers. Jessica opened the door to her bedroom, the door making a creaking sound as it swung open, and Charlie followed Jessica inside. Jessica begun rummaging through her clothes, looking at all the possible clothes I could wear.
She pulled out a black dress, and the shoulders were visible. The dress also had see-through fabric sleeves starting at the fore arm, running down to the wrist.
"I'm not too sure.. Isn't it supposed to be below sixty tonight?" Charlie tried to make up an excuse to not wear the dress, but Jessica argued, "We live in Southern Utah, Charlie. It's spring." Charlie nodded, taking the dress. She ran off to the bathroom to try it on, and she didn't look as half bad as she thought she would. Charlie walked out of the bathroom, and Jessica's eyes lit up when she saw Charlie.
"You look great!" Jessica smiled, and Charlie looked down at the clothing on her body. "Thanks, Jessica."
