Louis sat in the heavily worn armchair, his head hung and his eyes had bags, he was pale and exhausted. His newborn baby rested in his arms wrapped up in her little cream blanket, his eyes locked on his pale girlfriend asleep on the bed in front of him, covered in a red blanket, a needle injected into her hand, transferring blood into her body from a bag that sat on a little metal frame a few inches away from her head. His eyes kept flickering between his child and his Mrs.
She nearly died. Again. To bring my child into the world. This fucked up world. This isn't the life I want the baby to have. It's my fault. All my fault. I'm the reason this happened. If I had just protected her like I was supposed to, Arvo never would've taken her, she never would've gone into Labor early, the war wouldn't have happened, Violet would be still alive, Clem could've had the baby at Richmond in a proper hospital instead of on a stupid 40-year-old couch. hell if it weren't for me and my teenage hormones none of this would've even happened in the first place.

And with that last thought, he felt his eyes well up as he looked down at his child with guilt, her beautiful tanned skin and long dark hair, which you could tell was going to be curly when it gets longer.

"I'm sorry sweetheart, I didn't mean that. I love you so much." He whimpered, as he brought her up gently to plant a kiss on her head, trying his best not to wake her, neither of them had slept much since she was born, and he already spent the last few hours trying to cease her crying.

He let out a heavy sigh as his hand went over her tiny head, his hand pretty much engulfing her entire head. She was so small he was scared he might break her.

"I just wish you could've come on better circumstances kiddo, your arrival or exit, I guess, wasn't quite what I and mummy had planned, I so wanted you to meet my best friend...but she...you can't...I-I-I can't. fuck." He began to stammer, his hand reaching his head and pinching the bridge of his nose, his bottom lip wobbling. The tiny child began to stir so Louis took a breath to gather himself.

A sudden creak whispered from behind, his head snapping to the door, to see the young tall tanned boy with a large scar on his face.

Louis let out a sigh, his body dropping slightly, fighting back the tears that were threatening his eyes.

"Hey Louis, I ran into Ruby, and she told me to find you, she said you needed to talk to me?" He questioned quietly, announcing each word precisely as always.

Louis took a heavy breath and rose to his feet, trying his best to give the young preteen a friendly smile. Tenn's face lit up when his eyes landed upon the infant, his pace quickened and he went onto his tiptoes to see her face, Louis brought her down slightly to show her off.

"She's extraordinarily beautiful." He said in awe, as his eyes widened.

"She takes after her mom." Louis chuckled weakly. Tenn's eyes shot down, and then to the comatose Clementine on the mattress, his smile faded and was replaced with a concerned frown.

"How...is she?" Tenn asked concerned, his fingers twiddling and looking at the floor, not wanting to see his big brother's face full of nothing but fatigue and grief.

"She's...she's a lot of blood. but Elenor said that she's improving now she's got a blood transfusion." He muttered, his head turned towards the love of his life.
