"Come on Morpheus we have work to do" said death grabbing her brothers hand and dragging him along
"Death I need to be with Mari. What if she wakes up and I'm not there" said Morpheus
"She'll be fine. Lucienne will be there if she does" said Death
Death sees a little girl drop her teddy bear on the ground. "Here Ally. You dropped your bear. I bet you don't wanna lose that" said death leaning down to the girls level handing her the bear.
"Thank you. How do you know my name?" Questioned the little girl
"You'll know in time" said death smile
"Your a very pretty lady" said Ally
"Thank you Ally" death said and walked away "Come Dream we have things to do" she said walking away towards a grocery market. "So tell me brother why are you so attached to this human?"
"I don't know" he said grumpily.
"If you don't know then you don't mind me taking her?" Death taunted
"No , not like that" he said quickly looking at his sister.
She smirk "Then like what?" Looking down at a bucket of apples and picking up one. "Here" she said handing out money to the guy behind the both.
"No ma'am. On the house" said the man
She smiled "Thank you" and took a bite of the apple "Very delicious" complimenting on the man's job well done of caring for these apples.
The man smiled and gave her a nod. Death and Morpheus continued walking.
"I mean" said Morpheus clearing his throat "She a very old dear friend of mine that I can't bare to lose her"
"So your in love with her" Death teased.
"Yes sister, I'm in love with her" Morpheus said sternly.
"Okay, sorry" said Death "I'm just trying to get on what going on with your mind." She said following the sound of a violin playing.
They come across an nursing home and at the very top was a balcony were the music was coming from.
They get to the room we're the music could be heard loudly. In that room was an old man holding a violin playing a very old piece.
"I haven't herd that piece in years" said Morpheus
The old man turned around "Unfortunately this piece was never finished. I wish it was thought. It's a very pretty piece of music" the man smiled to himself.
"You can now" said Death "It's time to go" she reached out to help the old man up.
"I see" said the old man taking her hand and he looked back to see himself laying in the chair.
Death and the old man left the room.
Once Death came back she was alone.
"So are you gonna tell me what going through that head of yours yet?" Death pressure him into answering her.
"I just-" Morpheus hesitated "Mari is just-" he couldn't get the right words out to explain how he was feeling.
"Come on brother. I have just a little more left to do today". She said taking her brothers hand and leading him.
She lead him to a dark alley we're a man was laying.
She help him up and the man understood and they left. Once again Death came back empty handed.
Death finished up her rounds and dragged her brother were they had started.
There in the street was the little girl laying in the road with her teddy bear beside her. Death walked over picking up the teddy bear and leaned down to the girl.
"I thought I said not to lose him" she said heading the teddy to the little girl and helping her off the ground.
The little girl got up and looked around. She saw her mother leaning over a child crying and a panicked man outside his car calling someone.
"Miss, Why is my mommy crying over that kid?" She said looking up at death with her wondering eyes.
"Come now Ally. Your mom will be fine" Death said leading behind an old phonebooth. Once again Death came back empty handed.
"That how I would feel" Morpheus said nodding towards the mother sobbing over her child in the road.
"What do you mean?"Death answered.
"Exactly how that mother feels losing someone she loved so dearly and was supposed to protect at all cost and ending up failing miserably" Morpheus said looking at his sister with tears in his eyes.
"Now brother you can compare your pain to that mothers. You have not lost Mari. She is still alive and well. Just resting" said Death
"I know but if I did lose her" Morpheus said distraught
"But you didn't" said Death and at that time Matthew came flying in fast.
"Sir" said Matthew breathlessly "Shes awake".
"We must go now"Said Morpheus quickly.
"Sir but there's something you should know" Matthew pleaded.
"Not now Matthew" and with that Morpheus vanishing quickly. Leaving Death and Matthew behind.
