Liv had so much fun at her College Acceptance Party. She ate, chatted, danced, took pictures with friends and family, and opened gifts. She still couldn't believe that Elk Creek University had accepted her and that she would start school in the Fall. She looked at her family with mixed emotions since she was going to miss them.
" Dad." Liv's blue-violet eyes teared up when she saw Goofy approach her with a basket in his grasp.
" Olivia. This gift is from your Aunt, Uncle, Mother, and me." Goofy stopped walking, looking at Liv with teary dark brown eyes.
Liv held her breath when she heard Goofy mention her mother. She takes the basket filled with goodies and sets it on the table. She watched all of her friends stand around her in a circle. She carefully opens the basket and stares at the gifts with mixed emotions.
Peg fondly stared at Liv. " We thought giving you a Dorm Survival Gift Basket was best." She explained.
Liv saw some of her favorite snacks, drinks, movies, a first-aid kit, deodorant and perfumes, toiletries, laundry, and school supplies. Her gaze softened, touched by this thoughtful gift coming from her family. Her blue-violet eyes blinked when she spotted a small black box in front of her.
" What's this?" Liv asked while taking the small black box.
" That's from your mother and me. I know she would have wanted you to have this." Goofy commented.
Liv lightly bites her lips, surprised that her mother thought of this moment and gave a last parting gift to Goofy to give to her. She opened the small black box and gasped, seeing a beautiful golden heart-shaped necklace.
" It's beautiful," Liv whispered.
Jackson's gaze softened. He remembered Liv telling him what happened to her mother when she was five and how a drunk driver had taken her mother away from her and her family. Since then, he has started donating money to organizations supporting victims who lost loved ones to drunk drivers.
" Open it." Goofy warmly smiled.
Liv carefully opened the golden heart and gasped, seeing a picture of her parents with her five-year-old self and her three-year-old younger brother. She noticed they were all dressed in formal Christmas attire and knew this picture got taken a week before her mother died.
" Oh! Dad! I love this necklace so much!" Liv stands up and hugs Goofy tightly.
" Your mother would have wanted you to love Christmas again." Goofy whispered since he knew Liv hated Christmas because it was the day her mother died.
Liv's hands tightly grasped the back of Goofy's shirt. She loathed Christmas because her mother died that day. She closed her blue-violet eyes and contemplated celebrating Christmas again for her mother's sake.
" I'll give it a try this year," Liv mumbled.
Goofy warmly smiled. He let go of Liv and watched his daughter interact with her friends, showing them the picture inside the golden heart-shaped necklace.
