Angel's Pov

"This place is amazing, Angel!" Jade's eyes sparkled as she took a bite of roasted turkey.

"Yeah, their food's incredible. I'm glad you're loving it," I said with a grin.

"Can I order more?" She asked, her mouth half-full.

I chuckled.

"Sure, but just one plate—I'm not a billionaire."

She nodded, smiling, her cheeks stuffed with food.

"You keep checking your watch," Jade noted, raising a brow. "Expecting someone?"

I gave a small smile. "Actually, I'm—"

"Hey, sis!" Luca's arm draped around my neck, his lips brushing my cheek. He stepped into view, and I shot him a mock glare.

"You're late," I retorted sternly.

He flashed a sheepish grin.

"Sorry, sis. Mom held me up like I'm some five-year-old." His annoyed tone made me laugh.

"Jade, meet—" I turned to introduce them, but Jade's shocked expression stopped me. Her cheeks flushed red as she stared at Luca.

"L-Luca?" She stammered.

Luca looked confused, glancing from her to me.

He raised a brow, unconsciously raking his fingers through his curls.

"I'm sorry... have we met before?"

His voice was polite—too polite—and somehow that made it worse. A flicker of hurt crossed Jade's face, and my heart clenched for her.

I knew Luca didn't mean to be dismissive, but still... To save the evening from crashing, I quickly jumped in.

"Listen, Jade—Luca here suffers from... occasional memory loss. Early-onset dementia," I said with a straight face, elbowing him lightly before he could protest.

"Why don't we enjoy the evening and get to know each other better, hmm?"

I looped my arms through theirs and pulled them toward a nearby cookie shop.

As we sat with dessert, I caught Jade sneaking glances at him when he wasn't looking. It made me smile.

The girl had it bad. But I knew it'd take more than shy looks to catch Luca Caribello's attention.

Eventually, they warmed up to each other, chatting lightly. An idea popped into my head.

"I'll be back, guys. Need to grab something from a nearby store." I grabbed my purse and turned to Luca. "If I don't return before sunset, please take Jade home."

Jade's eyes widened as she picked up on my intention, silently pleading for me not to leave her alone with him.

I ignored it, and left them.

I strolled back to the mansion, the quiet LA streets bathed in the glow of a sinking sun.

A rare kind of calm settled in my bones. Eventually, the familiar mansion came into view.

I sighed.

Time to face the big bad boss... and his Barbie wife.

The living room was empty, to my relief. I hurried upstairs, praying not to run into either of them.

In my room, I freshened up and slipped into white lingerie set that left little to the imagination.

The color popped against my brown skin, making me feel... dangerously beautiful.

I pinned my curls into a neat updo and checked my phone. A message from Luca lit up the screen.

'You really know how to keep me on my toes, sis.'

I smirked, knowing he was annoyed by my setup but I didn't care one bit.

After scrolling online for a while, I headed to the kitchen for a drink, hoping to avoid Catalina.

The house was dark, save for soft moonlight streaming through the kitchen windows. I grabbed a glass, poured pineapple juice from the fridge, and returned the bottle.

I couldn't sleep, so, I wandered into the garden barefoot. The cool grass was soft under my feet as I strolled among roses and night-blooming flowers.

It was peaceful.

I was ready to savor the solitude when I spotted him, shirtless. His broad back faced me, tattoo ink sprawled over his shoulder. The soft moonlight gave his body an almost surreal glow.

As if sensing me, he turned. Our eyes met... and he looked away.

My chest tightened, and anger flared.

I set my drink on a garden table and marched over to him, grabbing his arm.

"Are you really going to ignore me, Raul?" I hissed through gritted teeth.

He brushed my hand off his.

Ouch. That stung more than I'd admit.

"Isn't that what you wanted, Tesoro?" He replied coldly, voice sharp as ice.

"I needed space to sort out my feelings, not for you to shut me out forever," I explained, my voice trembling but firm.

He chuckled, the sound cold and humorless.

"And what's your decision, Caramella?"

He was still calling me those sweet names—the endearments I'd grown so used to.

Did that mean he still wanted me as much as I wanted him? Maybe it was something small, but hearing those words made my heart thump hard in my chest.

I took a breath, steeling my heart.

"You."

He crossed his arms and stepped forward, a mischievous glint dancing in his eyes.

"Sorry, I didn't catch that."

I met his gaze, unflinching.

"You heard me Raul. I want you. All of you."

My response was firm and bold.

Without hesitation, I reached for him, pulling him by the neck and crashing my lips into his.

He caught my thighs and lifted me, his grip tight against my skin.

"Jump," he commanded, and I obeyed instantly, wrapping my legs around him.

His strong fingers tightened around my neck, deepening the kiss.

The minty heat of his mouth, laced with the grape tang of wine, ignited my hunger for him.

I slid against his body, making sure he felt how much I wanted him. With every shift of my body against his, I could feel his arousal growing—undeniable and pressing into me.

Without breaking the kiss, he carried me inside, navigating to my room with purpose.

Then, with a dark look in his eyes, he threw me on the bed and climbed on top of me.
