It was the perfect time of year to roam around downtown Philadelphia, Christmas time. Around this time of year, they usually have a thing called Christmas village. It's like a Christmas festival that consists of ice skating, tree lighting, kiddie rides, and random shops or vendors. Right before Christmas every year y/n and her family decided to visit this place, it was like a second home to her, and she was surprised that Bryson Stott, a Phillie, had never been to this magical place so she took it upon herself to bring him there.
Over the past few months, her and Bryson had become closer due to y/n getting a job as a ball girl for Citizens Bank Park, and they immediately clicked. Only just recently had they started hanging out, and their unknown crushes for each other flourished from being alone with one another.
It was 6PM and y/n was supposed to be hanging out with Bryson at 5:30, and he wasn't answering any of her texts; She was about to call him when she received a ring at her front door. Upon opening it, she saw Bryson's breathtaking face, his dazzling green eyes looking in hers, and when she looked down, he was holding a bouquet of flowers. This was a normal gesture from him and nobody knows why these two aren't dating yet, even the team says so.
"Hey! Why didn't you answer any of my calls? These are beautiful by the way, thank you Bryson." Y/n said, surprised that he was there after leaving her on read. "Wanted to surprise you, and there was also a lot of traffic, its Christmas Eve you know; A ton of travelers." He replied, while y/n found a vase to put the flowers in. "Well, do you want to get going? I need to grab my jacket before we do." y/n asked, and to which Bryson nodded in agreement.
Once they left her apartment complex, they were on the cold streets of Philadelphia, snow littered on the sidewalk, and the faint smell of hot cocoa in the air. They were just blocks away from Christmas Village and y/n was as excited as a little kid on Christmas to show Bryson her families tradition, and he was trying to hide his nervousness by reciprocating that same excitement. As soon as they arrived, y/n wanted to buy them each a matching Christmas themed beanie, to which Bryson hated the idea of, but eventually warmed up to. In the backround of their faint conversations was Andy Williams' "It's the Most Wonderful Time of Year" playing, as to which y/n made her and Bryson dance to.
"Can we go ice skating? I haven't gone since I was a kid." Bryson asked, "Is that even a question? I was an all-star ice skater in high school, I'm pro." Y/n said with a little bit too much confidence and a hint of sarcasm that Bryson hadn't picked up on.
Once they got their skates on, Bryson was a literal pro, and Y/N was astonished to see him glide across the ice so effortlessly.
"Need help? Seems like you're struggling, didn't you say you were good at this?" Bryson sarcastically remarked, sliding over to her position in the rink. "Ever heard of sarcasm? And seriously, is there anything you're not good at?" She questioned as she was about to slip and Bryson attempted to save her from falling, but also went down with her; Their faces being a little too closer for comfort, and secretly, both of them liking it more than they should've. Y/N was the first one to get up, and looking around her surroundings her attention was captivated by something blocking her vision. "Oh my gosh, Bry, there's a Ferris wheel, we're going! C'mon!" y/n exclaimed, almost forgetting she was on ice.
Once in line for the Ferris wheel, Bryson was hugging her from behind, surely you'd think they were dating, but they were not. She pulled out her phone, ultimately taking pictures of her and Bryson with their matching hats, and posting it on her story with the words "He's being shy" written over it. "You look cute with your hat on," Y/n told Bryson, her words making his face go red, "You're even cuter." He replied, but before they could say anything more, they were interrupted by a ding on her phone. A message from Kyle Schwarber, one of Bryson's teammates and another close friend that Y/n made from her new job. It read,
"Are you guys dating yet?"
Knowing that Bryson was watching her phone, her heart dropped to her feet, and she immediately ignored the message, and before they knew it, they were getting onto the Ferris wheel. "This reminds me of when we first started being friends, do you remember?" Bryson quizzed, "I sure do, I think about it all the time. Citizens Bank Park's Ferris wheel, where I realized we were destined to be besties!" Y/n reminisced, and laughed over the memory, while Bryson smiled. "Yeah, and that's where I realized that I was destined to fall in love with you, and I sure did." Bryson spoke, nonchalantly. "Wait, what? Did I hear that right?" Y/n's heart was beating a million beats per second, and so was Bryson's. "Y/N, ever since I met you, I knew that I was in love with you. It was like something was completed in my life when we first met." Bryson continued, "So we're here, at the top of the Ferris wheel, so I can ask you, the love of my life, if you want to be mine." He paused,
"Y/N, will you be my girlfriend?"
"Yes! a million times yes!"
She leaned into Bryson's face, and he did the same, their lips connecting, and each others bodies feeling like fireworks exploding. Once they pulled away, Bryson spoke, "You could say I'd been waiting for awhile to do that" He added with a laugh.
On the way back to her apartment, she took out her phone while Bryson was talking about something he saw on Instagram and she decided to reply to Kyle,
"Yes, we're dating."
