BEN's POV
Standing in a deserted gym, my fists were pounding the punching bag. Ever since Midnight had gone missing, I had spent all my time training and fighting. Well, fighting punchbags. I had lost count of how many I had broken. I was angry, so desperate to get her back. I felt something fall out of my pocket and I picked it up. It was a little box. I opened it and my eyes filled with tears. It was a ruby ring. Her favourite gemstone. I had brought it for her before she went missing. An engagement ring. I put it in my pocket gently before carrying on.
"BEN. Come home. Slendy wants to talk to you. Come on mate. We're worried about you." Someone said behind me.
"Go away Jeff. I'm busy. Slendy can come to me." I said, gritting my teeth.
"Suit yourself. But he won't be happy." He said sadly.
"I don't care. I'm fine." I said, breaking the punching bag. I heard Jeff sigh as he walked away. Then he came back and took down the punching bag and put another one on. He gave it one firm punch before standing back.
"It will hold. Do you want to kill another punching bag or fight me? I can take it bro." He smirked. I grinned back and threw a punch at him. He ducked and punched me in the stomach. I grunted and punched him in the face, hard. He grinned and we started to fight properly.
One hour later, Jeff and I were still throwing lame punches as we heard a slight chuckle behind us. I turned around to see Slenderman strolling towards us.
"Well, you two look a little beaten up. Having fun?" He asked, smiling.
"I swear you broke my nose like 20 times BEN. God, I hurt!" Jeff moaned. I laughed weakly.
"So do I. It feels good though. Same time tomorrow?" I grinned at his expression.
"No! More like same time next week!" He said as I laughed. I turned to Slendy.
"So, you wanted to talk to me? Jeff did tell me but we got a little carried away." I asked curiously. Slendy nodded seriously.
"I have to warn you, this will ruin your good moods. I have located Midnight. She is alive and well." He said gently. I stared at him slowly.
"So, why are we just standing here? Let's go and get her!" I said angrily. Slendy shook his head.
"No BEN. I know it's hard but she is happy. Well, kind of. I was watching from afar and she was with Zalgo. She was laughing and they looked happy. I did get her attention and she came over to me privately. We planned to meet tomorrow and she is going to tell me what the hell is going on." He said softly. My eyes filled with tears. I was struggling so much without her but she didn't seem to care. She didn't need me.
??? POV
Two weeks ago I had picked my prey. She looked so like her. Like Amelia. I shook my head. I have to get out of my dream world. She's dead. And so is my soul. The young woman in front of me strolled happily down the street, unaware that her worst nightmare was lurking in the shadows. Her name? Annie Winters. Happily married with a 4 year old son. 23 years old. Lived just around the block. Worked as a lawyer. Her husband is an estate agent. His name is James Winters. I had followed the girl for two weeks, and now I had everything I needed. I am a man of many gifts. I can mimic someone's voice perfectly... I can also skin someone in 30 seconds flat. But that's no fun! You want to drag it out a bit right?
I had followed her until I heard her husband's voice. Now, I can mimic it perfectly.
"Annie? What are you doing here? Come on, we should get home. It's getting late love." I said softly in the shadows. She grinned.
"Hey James. I can't see you. Are you hiding babe?" She whispered lovingly. I chuckled softly. Now I had her voice too!
"Why don't you come over here love?" I said. She shook her head.
"Nope. You can come to me." She said in a cocky tone. I hissed into the darkness. She just had to be awkward. With a flick of my wrist, I had sent one of my throwing knives soaring through the air. It slid into her shoulder, pinning her to the wall. She screamed as blood oozed down her arm, but the more she struggled, the deeper the knife sunk into her soft flesh. Chuckling ghoullishly, I sent another throwing knife arcing across the sky, pinning her other shoulder to the crumbling bricks. She struggled desperately. And the best part? She thought it was her darling husband. I stalked closer to her, keeping out of the light. She mustn't know that it's me. That would ruin all my hard work. I grabbed her foot and slipped her shoe off. I held her foot against the wall, as I jabbed a knife deep into her ankle. She screamed in agony and I chuckled darkly.
"What's wrong Annie? Don't you like my little game?" I said menacingly. She whimpered as I took her other shoe off. I then picked up another knife and rested the tip on her ankle. She moaned in pure terror. Slowly, I began to push on the hilt, the flesh ripping as I applied more and more pressure. Flesh ripped so easily. She cried out, begging me to stop.
"But baby, I've only just began." With that last comment, I pulled out my final knife. My favourite knife. My skinning knife. As I skinned my prey, her tortured screams were music to my ears. Now, onto the husband.
It was easy to find out everything about the now dead girl. I stood outside, glaring at the warmly lit window. The girl's husband was laughing as he bounced a little boy on his knee. However, I noticed he was glancing at the door with a stricken expression. Slipping out of sight, I pulled off the skin I was currently wearing and slipped on Annie's skin. It was soft to the touch but on the other side, it was raw from where I had sliced it off the muscle. I opened the door softly, making no noise. Last time I was here, I had made a mental note of where the electricity box was located and I confidently headed towards it. I pulled out one of my knives and I swiftly sliced through the wires. The house immediately went black. In the distance, I could hear the child crying, his father comforting him. I ran silently through the house before opening the door. I shut it again.
"Honey are you home? Where are you babe?" I mimicked perfectly.
"Hey Annie. We are in the living room. Seems to be a powercut." My 'husband' said.
"Hi mummy!" A little voice chirped happily. No more tears. Huh. Children are strange little beasts aren't they? As I thought this, another of my father's gifts kicked in. The darkness was replaced by blood-tinged vision of the house: My night vision.
"James, could you come to me? I can barely walk in these shoes as it is!" I said, trying not to giggle. I love how my prey takes part in my games without me even asking. I grin as I hear heavy footsteps cross the room. Slipping out a throwing knife, I took aim. An agonized scream filled the air as my throwing knife threw him backwards. His face was filled with fear and agony. Then I hissed angrily. Damn it! He must of moved because my blade was buried deep in his chest, inches away from his pumping heart. Blood oozed down his torso as he screamed, his pulse slowing slightly. I darted forward, my skinning knife in hand. I had planned to have a lot more fun than this. Oh well.
"Annie... Why?" He croaked, his eyes bulging with pain. I glowered silently.
"Because you're a lousy husband. You're boring and always perfect and good. I want a bit of excitement in my life James." I said angrily. He gulped.
"This is your idea of excitement?" He hissed. I chuckled.
"Of course. Your very good looking. Can I have your skin?" I said. Before he could answer, I had ran forwards. I slashed down his shoulder, before doing it on the other side. I peeled the flaps of skin back as screams echoed in the air. I then sliced down his stomach, before peeling that back too. I managed to pull all the skin off in one piece. He groaned weakly, his heart hammering in his chest, as if it was trying to use all its beats. I left him flailing weakly, as I pulled off Annie's skin and pulled on James'. I pulled a candle out of my pocket and lit it spookily. The child was sitting on the floor, his eyes round with fear. I grinned at him, before throwing one of my knives at the boy's shoulder. I threw another one into his other shoulder, his arms pinned to the wall. I grinned before leaving the room.
"Goodbye son." I said softly. He screamed before falling limp. I ran into the hallway, pulling off the skin at the same time. I ran out the house, sirens echoing in the distance. My work here is complete
