"Sir, you are in a hospital. We're all feeling negative emotions, but you have to quite down. People are trying to rest here."
Dazai turned his head to see an older lady, giving him a disapproving stare. He wordlessly got up, turned around, and went for the exit. "Mr. Osamu, do you not want to visit Mr. [Last Name]?" The nurse asked, trying to cheer him up. Dazai frowned, and opened the door.
"What's the point in visiting?"
Those words, he immediately regretted. He didn't know why he said them, but he knew they weren't true.
He was sad, angry, confused and full of regret.
Regret of not having done more with him, of not finding him sooner.
He shook his head, and went to the agency. He'd have to get his mind off things, and what better way than to turn into the workaholic he once used to be. A coping mechanism he didn't want to need anymore.
His steps where quick, and loud. Not graceful and elegant like usual. He didn't care he was slouching, his hands in his pockets as he frowned. The light in his eyes, once again dwindling. He wanted to be happy, he really did, but what was he supposed to do when life takes the only things that do make him happy.
As he stood infront of the entrance, he hesitated. Should he go back? He didn't know why he said what he did, but he sure as he'll didn't mean it. He knew [Name] wasn't dead, but he could be tomorrow. He didn't know how stable he was, or if he was breaths away from dying.
Despite knowing this, Dazai couldn't bring himself to turn back to the hospital. He didn't have the energy to walk back, nor did he have the energy to present his coworkers with faux happiness. He couldn’t force himself through another day of false jollity, and greenness.
As he walked through the door, barely anyone noticed until Kunikida started talking to him. He wanted to be mad at Dazai for ignoring his responsibilities, but he couldn’t. The look in Dazai's dead eyes made him stammer, and he quit. Kunikida shut his mouth, and only stared at Dazai in hopes of him jumping back to life. Yet that moment didn't come. As the others in the office took notice of Dazais presence, they watched confused and worried as he went to his table. Even Ranpo was worried.
He had been able to figure out what was going on, and went to tell Fukazawa. The others only continued to stare as Dazai quitly did his work.
The stares got too much, Dazai knew he wouldn't be able to take much more. He hoped something would get him out of this situation, when Fukazawa came through the door, behind him a concerned Ranpo. "Dazai, please come with me."
Was all he needed to hear before bolting out of the room, the stares followed for a few moments. He let out a relieved sigh once to door had been closed and followed Fukazawa to his office.
Once there, he was slightly confused as the office had a small area free. The desk and chairs moved to fit a chabudai.
On it, two cups of green-tea.
Fukazawa motioned for Dazai to sit down, and so he did. His boss sat down infront of him, sipping at the tea before clearing his throat.
"Would you please tell me what happened to [Name]?"
