Day off. Those were two sacred words in her profession. It was incredibly rare to not be on call, let alone a full 24 hours of being off. Of course, she was always on, however. If someone needed help or any assistance, she would always jump back into her first responder, paramedic mode.
And hopefully today was not that day. At least, she hoped not. She had requested this day before she even started. It was a special day, yet sad.
"I have the flowers." Peter almost jogged over to her with a bouquet of sunflowers in his hand. His mothers favorite. Then she noticed the lilacs. "For your mom too."
Dublin gave a smile and drew her brother into a hug. "Thank you." She whispered, tightening her hold on Peter. Tears forming in her eyes, but never falling. And Peter knew what was happening. Even though her mother was so special in her eyes, she was just as close to his mother. They had tried to be respectful. Keeping the memory of Catherine alive, but, she had passed away when Dublin was so young. Mary Parker immediately took her under her wing. Helped her through so much as a young girl. Taught her everything. And Peter? Dublin would do anything to protect her brother.
Pulling apart, she looked at the bouquets and chuckled. "And where did you get these?" Peter gave a smirk and nodded towards the storefront. "Mr. Delmar." Dublin gave a full laugh as she nodded her head. "Best sandwich in Queens!Dublin laughed and shook her head, wrapping her arm around her brothers shoulders. "Come on kid. We still have some food shopping to do."
Peter groaned as they headed towards the subway, defending the stairs underneath the city's busy street. "Why do we always have to go to Brooklyn? There's food in Queens..."
"True, but since you're spending the night at my place, we're going to my shop! Besides. I know you wanna see Nat." She playfully wiggled her eyes brows as Peter blushed. "What does that-I mean...no...I-" Dublin gave a laugh as they stepped into the train car and gripped the pole for balance. "Oh come on, you so don't need help with your homework. Me thinks my little brother has a crush..."
His eyes went wide as his grip on the bar became tighter. "You know about MJ?!" Her eyes went wide as a smile immediately graced her features. "And whose MJ?" Peter's face immediately went red and he suddenly became awkward and nervous. "She's-I mean-she's..." He was at a loss for words. Dublin gave a chuckle as she turned back towards the shelves. "We still need-" Peter immediately spun on his heels and sped down the aisle. "I'll get it." Leaving Dublin laughing to herself and shaking her head.

Steve loved and hated his days off. Loving the fact that he was able to sleep in but also hating the fact that his body clock wouldn't let him. 6:30am, every day. That was usually when he begrudgingly woke up every day off. And today he actually had things to get done.So to the shop he went. And the shops in his Brooklyn neighborhood were small, right aisles and usually everyone knew everyone. "Officer Rogers!" Marge exclaimed with a warm smile.
Being the wife of the owner of the local shop, she made sure to welcome everyone into her large, Irish family. She always made sure to take everyone in, but also she was protective. Very wary of new people. But Steve was always one of her favorite, unofficial sons. "How many times..." she waved him off, wrapping her arms around his sturdy frame. "Oh hush, Steve." He chuckled and nodded his head.
He lost his father when he was a kid, his mother shortly after. Marge Pendergast was soon to take over. He knew that she would do anything to protect him. "How's Sharon?" The disdain in her voice. He could always hear when she didn't approve of something. "She's-uh..."
And that's when his phone went off. A huff rising from his lungs. "That's answers my question." Marge made a face and gave him that all knowing look.the one his mother gave him as a kid. The one that made one think fuck...I'm in trouble.
