Dangerous Night

Dublin could barely keep her eyes open. She wasn't able to sleep a wink last night. Nat had the night shift at the hospital, so unfortunately Dubs was the only one present for the symphony of moans coming from her next door neighbors. The wall as were extremely thin and they decided that they wanted to go at it like rabbits.

"Stay with me Dubs. It's gonna be a busy night." Friday the 13th. Contrary to popular belief, it was usually one of the most busiest nights. Halloween, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and surprisingly Valentine's Day round out the top 5. "And it's a full moon to top it off."

"Sorry. I promise I'm awake. Neighbors decided to start their morning early." She yawned as she ran a hand through her hair, pulling it into a lazy bun.

"The 80 year olds?" Reilly couldn't believe it. "No wonder this holiday is cursed..."

Dublin couldn't help but chuckle as she rubbed her face and sat up straight on her side of the rig. "Would never picture you as superstitious."

"Hell yeah! Why do you think I'm wearing my all seeing eye? What about you? Aren't the Irish the most superstitious people? You have banshees and fairies and..." She covered his mouth with her hand glared at him. "Those aren't superstitions. Have you ever heard a banshee wail in the middle of the night? I have, so shut it."

"Bull fucking shit!" Reilly wasn't trying to be disrespectful. Not at all. He just loved riling her up. He fully believed all her stories from Ireland, whether true or not; he loved hearing a little of the brogue she picked up come out.

"I swear to god! The high pitched wailing, three nights in a row. Always ends with someone dying. The most horrible sound that will pierce straight through your soul. Leprechauns on the other hand? Absolute shite."

"What?"

"Do you know how many rainbows I saw over there? Not one pot of gold to be found." The brogue had finally managed to slip out and he gave a hearty laugh. "Feckin' tricksters..."

The radio went off and Reilly rolled his eyes. "And so it begins."

"Reports of a fight at Club Hydra. Cops are already on the way. Requesting paramedics as a precaution."

Reilly picked up the radio and gave a huff. "Thanks, Yelena."

"Whatever. I was supposed to be off an hour ago but Kate was late, so.... Be safe, guys."

Dublin leaned forward and turned on the lights and sirens. Fully awake and ready for anything.

Steve let out another sigh and Clint couldn't help but shoot him a glare. "I'm seriously going to punch you if you do that again."

"Sorry." Steve said in defeat. "It's just Rumlow-"

"Oh yeah. How did that patrol go? On your day off. Which you rarely have..." Clint was already on edge with what day it was, but he also knew his friend: something was up. "What's up, Cap?"

Steve just groaned. He hated that nickname. And the fact that Tony had somehow made it stick made him despise it even more. "I don't know why the guy transferred from DC." Steve slammed his clenched fist against the cruiser's dashboard. "He's so..."

"He's the very definition of a cocky bastard." Clint chuckled. "Something happen?" Now Clint was concerned. They were well respected in the community. Everyone knew them. "Not necessarily. It's just the way he talks to people."

Clint narrowed his eyes but let it go. There was definitely something else bothering him, but he let it go.

"Car 0704."

The radio came alive and Clint picked up the receiver. "We're here Wanda."

"Sorry to start your night like this but, Club Hydra. Already, a fight broke out. Paramedics on the way."
