March approched.
The leaves turn green again, marking the beginning of spring. Our 1 monthsary is approaching too and we decided to go on an actual date, not just meeting up for coffee after class.
Unfortunately, a day before our actual date I was down with flu. I call Charles to let him know I'm not feeling well and I'm going to rest today.
My parents are out of town to attend a wedding. So, it was me and the flu alone in this house.
I locked the front door and slept in my room putting away my phone.I woke up to the sound of someone hitting my window with pebbles. It disturbed me so much that I flung it open and one of the pebbles hits me on my forehead .
And infront of our porch is a figure of a man standing. I rubbed my eyes, trying to have a clearer picture. It's Charles.
Oh my goodness. Am I dreaming? He's in my house? It must be a dream. Yeah.
I closed my eyes and open them again. He's still there ,this time waving his hand .
He lifted his right hand showing me the snacks he bought.I immediately closed the window, fixed my hair with my hand as I ascended down the flight of stairs. I checked myself in the mirror attached to the common room wall. When I look less homeless, I opened the door. And invited him in.
Oh sweet lord. Seeing him doesn't do good for my health. The butterflies inside my stomach isn't helping me with my flu. I think I need to check my temperature again." You surprised me. You know that I hate surprises", I said as I lead him to our common room. I put on the television as he settled himself on the couch. I sat only few inches away from him.
The TV was played as a backdrop for our conversation. He looked around the room and I patiently wait for his eyes to land on me. When he did I told him what he was curious of. My parents whereabouts. A sign of relief wash over him.
Will my parents be mad at me for inviting someone in the house in their absence? Absolutely.
Will they allow me to invite in a guy in their presence? Absolutely no.So, I am sick physically. Not in the head and I am trying to reasoned myself that I did the right thing and not trying to concerned myself when he's already inside my house.
He must have sense my thoughts troubling me all displayed over my face that he cleared his throat and said, ' I just wanted to make sure you're alright and spend atleast few minutes for our monthsary".
He continued,' you had me worried when you didn't picked up your call. So, I had no choice but to come visit you... I'm sorry " his voice trailed off .
I faced him and reached out for his hand and interlaced our fingers as I apologise.
" I didn't know you'd be so worried about me down with flu. Sorry. I put my phone on the night stand and slept after taking medicine "
He couldn't stay mad at me for so long. He looked at me. My whole body get heated from his gazed.
"You look beautiful", he confessed out of nowhere.
Then, he leaned forward and stops only an inch away. "I'm going to kiss you. You still have chance to back off if you're not ready ", he warned.
I looked in his eyes and talked back, "I'm down with flu if you don't care about your health ".
None of our warning stops us from closing the inch and connecting our lips.
