The final bell of the day rings and I pack up my things leaving the classroom and walking to my locker to grab my things for the weekend and walked out the doors. The front was already full and the buses were arriving and other kids boarding the buses, I waited for the buses to look less crowded before deciding wether to walk or stand in the middle of the bus aisle. "Hey you getting on the bus?" I looked seeing Darius walking up beside me, "I'm debating" i said as I looked at everyone boarding the buses. "Tyler around?" He asked, "lacrosse training" i said finally walking to the buses.

"I'll see you later then" Darius said as he waved at me and walked the opposite way, I boarded the bus and everyone looked my way. Leaning in and whispering to each other laughing, I sat up the front because it as the only seat left on the bus and put my earphones in. the bus left the school and I looked out the window watching all the trees, houses and buildings we passed along the way. Seven stop later I got off the bus and walked the rest of the way home, when I got home walking through the door the smell of Karelian pastry fresh out of the oven. "Smells so good ma" I said walking through to the kitchen and leaving my shoes by the door. "You're home yes their for afternoon tea" she said and she didn't have to tell me twice as I grabbed a plate from the cupboard and served myself some.

"How was school?" She asked as she cleaned up the kitchen, "Tyler keeps trying to apologise" i said and she turned to me with a soft smile. "Did you tell him he needs to match his actions with his words" ma said as she wiped her hands with a towel, "No I just said I needed space and to leave me alone" I said taking a bite of my food. "Honey don't be so harsh" she said leaning over the counter and eating some of the pastry, "but ma I don't trust him" I said and she placed her hand on my shoulder. "It takes time but he'll earn your trust back you'll see" she said as she went back to cleaning. "Tyler said he wanted me to be at his lacrosse match this Friday" i said and she turned back to look at me, "your father will be there and I think it's a wonderful idea, get you out of your room" she said and I laughed. "Ma I'm in there studying" i said laughing, "no funny noises" she said and I put my hands over my cheeks hiding the redness. "Ma Eww" I said scrunching my nose, "I'm kidding" she laughed as she took a glass of water then my phone buzzed.

I looked at the screen to see who was messaging me as it was very rare I even got messages, I scrolled my notifications seeing Tyler's name.
Tyler🥵- hey I'm going for a walk do you wanna come with and we can get ice cream??
Ella- why did you put a hot emoji on the end of your name?
Tyler - because I am hot
Ella - gross
Tyler- that's mean

"Oh is that Tyler?" Ma asked and I nodded making her smile, "what does he want?" She asked. "He wants to go on a walk and get ice cream" i said turning off my phone, "you should go with him and talk" she said and i scrunched my nose. "Ella I'm not suggesting I'm telling now go" she ushered and I messaged Tyler back that I'd meet up with him at the local corner store. I got dressed and freshened up putting on shorts instead of the jeans I was wearing and left the house to see Tyler. When I arrived at the corner store I saw him sitting at a table outside writing something, "hey" i said walking up to him and he looked up closing his notebook. "Hey you came" he said and I nodded taking a seat, "this is for you" he said handing me a single origami bird. "You made this" I said as I looked at the red paper bird, "yea I started learning how to make them" he said.

"Thank you" i said gently placing it in my bag, "so what did you want to see me for?" I asked and he shrugged, "do I need a reason to want to see my little sister" he said quietly. "I wanted to say I was sorry" he said looking at me with pleading eyes, "are you really sorry?" I asked and he nodded vigorously. "Yes I'm sorry about what happened at the dance I'm sorry for everything Ella" he said, "prove to me your sorry" I said and he scratched his head. "How?" He asked and I rolled my eyes, "prove you won't hurt me" i said and he nodded. "I can and I will" he said and he leaned across the table kissing my forehead, "I'm not gonna let anyone hurt you" he said.

One week later, Tyler picked me up from ma's house and we went to school together. I didn't think he was serious about driving me to school but he showed up. We arrived in the school car park and got out seeing the crowds of students walking from their cars in groups. "What class do you have first?" He asked me as we walked to the school gates, "biology" i said and he nodded, "I've got maths" he said and I laughed. "Poor Tyler you'll be fine" i said and he groaned, "but I hate maths" he whined. "Well suck it up almost every job has numbers" i said and we walked down the hall to the lockers to which Tyler waited for me by my locker to get my things, "you don't need to wait with me you can go find your friends" i said. "But I want to stay with you though at least until we have to go to class" he said and I closed my locker. "Thanks Tyler" i said and he did something that caught me off guard, he wrapped his arms around me tightly hugging me to his chest. I froze for a minute then returned the hug back to Tyler hugging him tightly before pulling away, "I didn't expect that from you" i said smiling and he smiled back. "Yea well sis I will say you give the best hugs" he said nudging my shoulder, the bell rang and I waved at Tyler as he went to class and I slowly made my way to biology.
