Across the Sea

We ended up walking through the desert. It was surprisingly big, and uncomfortably hot. For the first five minutes of walking, everything seemed fine. After about seven minutes, Palmon fell over. "It's too hot!" she groaned. The flower on her head seemed less vibrant, and slightly desaturated.

Gomamon was also struggling, but he tried harder to hide it. "Are y-you sure you c-can keep going?" Will asked him. "You fought r-really hard earlier.. I c-can carry you if y-you-"

"No!" Gomamon snapped. "I'm fine."

Will backed off, but kept an eye on Gomamon.

Gabumon was sweating profusely, but refused to take off his fur coat. "I'm not taking it off," he said stubbornly.

Via groaned. "Gabumon, you'll pass out if you don't take it off."

"I'm not taking it off!"

Via tried snatching it off of him, but he dodged nimbly, sticking his tongue out at her. She glared at him.

Patamon was struggling to stay in the air. "Patamon, you're only tiring yourself out." Noah said. "Let me carry you."

"I don't want to be a burden.." Patamon mumbled. I realized that, now that Gabumon had evolved, he was the last one. His attack wasn't helpful, so he hasn't engaged in combat yet.

"Don't be ridiculous." Noah said starkly. "If anything, we're the burden to you Digimon." he grabbed Patamon out of the air. Patamon didn't struggle at all- he seemed relieved to not be struggling anymore.

The only ones who didn't seem bothered were Biyomon and Tentomon. "Tentomon, how are you not dying? It's so hot.." I had taken off my undershirt, and fanned myself with it.

Tentomon shrugged. "I don't feel heat. I'm just not affected by it."

Biyomon was doing loop-de-loops in the air. "I guess because of Birdramon, heat doesn't really bother me either."

Everyone groaned, jealous of Tentomon and Biyomon's resistance. Black and Conner glanced at me. "Ace, you have a heat resistance too." Conner pointed out.

"I do?!"

Black rolled her eyes. "As a hellborn, you're resistant to heat. Hell is kinda hot, y'know?"

I certainly didn't feel like I was resisting the heat. "Maybe I'm just built differently." I said, once again continuing to fan myself with my shirt.

Gomamon, who had been quiet ever since Will had offered to help him, suddenly cried out. "Look! Water!"

Everyone looked up. Sure enough, we were nearing the end of the desert. The sand slowly faded into small pebbles that formed a beach. Small waves lapped at the short of this pebble beach off in the distance.

"Finally!" Jay cried, who'd also been silent. "Water!"

Everyone started to run towards the beach, using the last bit of energy to get there. Tentomon and Biyomon went up ahead, presumably to check out the beach. Will reached the water first, with Gomamon right behind him. "O-oh my gosh, I-I thought I'd never see w-water again!" he exclaimed.

Gomamon dove into the water, disappearing under the surface. "Fiiiinally.." Jay sighed, collapsing onto the beach. "Something other than HOT DESERT."

I had expected Gomamon to pop out of the ocean, but it was Ikkakumon. "Alright!" he bellowed. "Now that we've reached the ocean, it's time to swim!"

Everyone looked slightly hesitant. "Only s-so many of us can f-fit on you, Ikkakumon." Will pointed out.
