I climbed up the metal ladder, cringing at the soft creeeak noise it made. I swung open the wooden trapdoor and hoisted myself out of the trapdoor. Tentomon flew out behind me, making the trap door swing shut. Again, I flinched. Mom definitely must've heard that.

"Alright." Tentomon landed beside me. "Let's go to Black's house. We're safest there, right? Does Black live alone?"

I nodded. "Yeah. She has a massive house, and she's been bugging me to move it."

"Perfect!" Tentomon exclaimed, lifting off into the air. "Now's the perfect time to move in!"

Before I could interject, he grabbed me and hoisted me into the air. "Tentomon!" I spat, taken by surprise. "You can just- we're- how would people react if they saw a massive ladybug just carry a-"

"Shush! The faster we get there, the safer we'll be!" Tentomon exclaimed.

Sure enough, my feet touched the ground in front of Black's door within a few seconds. Sighing, I rushed Tentomon to Black's door, glancing anxiously around.

I knocked on her door, fidgeting anxiously. I felt awkward standing in front of such a nice, well decorated house. The door alone must've cost so much money, with the gold embedded around the edges and the crystal doorknob. Suddenly, the door swung open, and Black gave me a surprised look. "Ace? I thought you were- oh. Did she..?"

I nodded. "Yeah. Well, actually, she almost killed me." I explained nonchalantly.

"She what!?" Black bristled, looking about ready to storm over to my house and kill my mom. "Get in the house and explain." she yanked me into the house. Tentomon darted through the door before Black slammed it.

I always felt a sense of awe whenever I was in Black's house. She was very wealthy and aristocratic and it showed in her impressive carpets, lavishly decorated walls, and expensive furniture. Biyomon was sitting on one of the fuzzy carpets, sound asleep.

"That's probably been her most comfortable sleep." Black noted. "Soft carpet instead of hard dirt."

We stood awkwardly for a moment, before Black spun and grabbed my shoulders. "What the-?"

"Did she hit you?" she asked, staring up into my eyes. "Did she touch you at all?"

"Um.. yeah. She grabbed my shirt collar and threatened me. I was the only one who attacked her, though, so I'm-"

Black shook my shoulders aggressively. "She put her hands on you!" she cried. "You could- you could sue her for- for-"

"No." I shrugged her hands off my shoulders. "I just want her out of my life. I don't want to see her ever again."

Black went silent for a moment. "What about your dad?" she asked. "Is he around much?"

I shook my head. "No. I don't think he cares much about me." I noticed her sad expression, and forced some cheerfulness into my voice. "Hey, none of that matters! I'm here with you now! Biyomon and Tentomon are also-"

Black looked over my shoulder. "They're both asleep on my expensive rugs." she observed, amused. "They are really soft."

I looked behind me. Sure enough, Biyomon and Tentomon were soundly asleep on the brightly colored rugs. "Aw, they're so peaceful!" I exclaimed.

Black laughed. "Oh, it's been so long since I've been able to watch some TV." Black said, stretching her arms over her head. "C'mon Ace, let's watch something dumb! Y'know," She gave me a look. "Relax a bit."

I nodded, walking over to the couch. "I was thinking, I dunno, the news?"

Black rolled her eyes with a slight expression of frustration. "The news? Seriously?"
