The year is 2030, in a small country called Echonala, where the air is hot and dry.. the fearful ones will wear a gas mask when leaving their homes, and the big industrial worksites are never 100% safe.. getting a job is a game of Russian roulette with your life.. because there's a high chance of you never returning home.. at least not with a perfectly functional immune system.. it was a radiation wasteland..
Cain sat in her office with not a single task given to her. All she did to keep active at this time was spin around in her ergonomic chair and wait for her coworkers on the bottom floor to alert her of the arrival of the food she ordered. Cain's peers were often irritated by her lack of diligence and awareness of how often she should actually be working, and yet she only thought of them as a nuisance, just like anyone who didn't view her as god walking the earth once again.. however, there was one person who's opinion on her mattered, and that was her boss, Meili.
Meili, or Miss Vang, was no good leader, but she was undoubtedly a respectable woman, and everyone who worked for her was frightened to death by her.. it was a joke among her employees that being fired would be akin to god casting Lucfier to hell because of how much she acts like she's as entitled and high and mighty as the lord of the heavens, but of course, they would never let that reach her ears.. not unless Cain felt like being a rat and snitching on her colleagues for a gold star.. Cain had a different relationship with her boss than any of her peers, for they became good friends during their late years of high school. Despite what you may believe, Meili was no stereotypically upper class popular girl, in fact, nobody knew she existed.. even after months of attending school, there were many occasions where she was mistaken for a new student. She unexplainably changed once she graduated.. she developed a superiority complex beyond your comprehension, and she went from a nobody to having control over everybody, including her only friend, who believes the only reason she was hired, was because she was close to Meili, which also gave her a sense of superiority over everyone else.
When Cain was called down to the first floor to collect her food, she encountered Meili, who looked ambiguously unhappy.. she usually wasn't happy looking anyway, but Cain wasn't able to tell how she was feeling.. "ma'am? Is everything alright? Where's that smile we all love to see?" she chuckled awkwardly. "Cain, I've received more than a few complaints from your colleagues within the week.. reports that you've been ridiculing them for their lacking performances in their department.. you wouldn't bully anyone, would you?" Meili replied as she revealed the papers she was holding close to herself. Cain took the papers from her boss's hand and read them. "I swear I would never act like that.. and I have no idea why they'd say this.. Y'know, give this some deeper thought.. I've been promoted twice within this month.. and got more raises than anyone, all without asking.. I don't want to sound stuck up, but maybe they're jealous and want to take hold of my department?" Cain said in a falsely sad tone, acting as if she were about to burst into a fountain of crocodile tears. Meili bought it, and shrugged it off the second the words escaped from Cain's mouth.. but with this interaction in mind, it would still be foolish to mistake Meili for a gullible woman.. for she could surpass Cain as a more cunning individual. Cain returned the papers to her boss and scurried upstairs, ready to spread havoc again, but this time, with less of a chance of getting caught.
