"WHAT UP WITCHES!" Felicity yelled, running into the Daily Prophet.
"Hey." I said, not looking up from my paper.
Felicity and I both work for the Daily Prophet. Felicity is one of the journalists in the sports section. She's one of the biggest quidditch enthusiasts you will ever meet. When we were at Hogwarts, she did the commentary for the matches our last three years. Felicity hated playing sports. She's a muggle born and as a kid her parents kept trying to get her to play sports and even she admits she sucked. I did play on the Hufflepuff quidditch team when we were there. I played keeper, and I was pretty good at it. However, I don't write for the sports column like Felicity. I'm a photographer and I sometimes do interviews. When I was younger, I grew up reading Rita Skeeter and her daughter Helen Skeeter's stuff. Their interviews were twisted and terrible and a lot of their stories did not tell the truth. One time when I was fifteen, the Minister of Magic had to make a public announcement. She told everyone to ignore the Skeeters' writing. It was quite funny.
"What are you doing, Emory?"
"Nothing, just writing a letter to my brother." I said, signing my name on the parchment. I folded it and put it in an envelope before giving it to my owl Ash, for him to deliver to Hogwarts.
"Cool. So, any plans this weekend?" She asked.
"Probably Christmas shopping. Louie and Ariah are coming home sometimes next week. The letter I just sent was to my brother to ask him what he wants." Louie and Ariah are my siblings. Ariah is 29 and 4 years older than me and Louie is 16, so he's nine years younger. It's so much easier to shop for Ariah. Usually I give her a big box of British muggle and wizard sweets because she moved to America with her fiance and she misses all her favorite British sweets.
"Cool. Can I come with? I need to get something for Finn. I swear it's so hard to shop for wizards. My muggle family is so much easier."
"At least you have a boyfriend to shop for." I huffed.
"You'll find someone soon." Felicity said. She was probably right, but still! It's been over 5 years since I dated someone and I'm honestly losing hope.
"I know it's just frustrating. I mean, you remember my last boyfriend. That was a disaster and a half." I sighed.
"Yeah. Not gonna lie that muggle was toxic." Felicity shrugged.
I laughed at Felicity's comment and continued working. I can't wait for the weekend.

Today's Saturday and I'm going Christmas shopping with Felicity. Right now, I'm in my room getting ready. I picked out a black turtleneck, blue mom jeans which I cuffed at my ankles, and a long brown coat, which I was going to wear out, along with my faded Hufflepuff scarf. I stared at the mirror, wondering what I should do with my hair. Sighing, I grabbed a black claw clip and twisted my straight shoulder-length brown hair into a bun and secured it with the clip. I left a few pieces out to frame my face. I finished my minimal makeup, grabbed my coat, scarf, and purse, and left my flat.
I took the bus to London, where I waited for Felicity in the Leaky Cauldron before we left to go shopping in Diagon Alley and then London. While I waited, I got two hot chocolates, one for me and one for Felicity at a cafe across the street from the Leaky Cauldron.
"I'm here!" Felicity said, walking over to me.
"Good, let's go." I said, giving her the hot chocolate.
We entered Diagon Alley, and I took in the site in front of us. Diagon Alley always looked amazing, but during winter, it looked even more breathtaking. The cobblestone street was dusted with snow, as were the rooftops of stores. There was mistletoe and Christmas trees everywhere. The sun glinted on the snow, making it shine. Little kids played in the snow while their parents shopped. You could see peoples breathe as they talked, and the chilly air smelled like snow, pine, and smoke from the stores chimneys. Felicity and I walked through the streets, our hair dusted with snow. We walked into Florish and Blotts, and we each took a deep breath. Felicity and I loved books, and the smell of Florish and Blotts was always so comforting. It smelled like new books and coffee. I walked through the sections until I found the magic cookbooks. My mom recently had been experimenting with new recipes, so I thought I would get her a holiday cookbook so she can make some sweet treats. I picked up a book on how to make magic holiday desserts and I also grabbed a basic cookbook for Ariah, because she can't cook to save her life.
