"HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBBY!!"

Alan, I, and Sam screamed at the same time and then rushed towards Robby. He sighed, kept down the things that he had in his hands, and got ready to get engulfed in our heartwarming hug by spreading out his arms. However, he was completely tricked when we stopped right in front of him and shook his outspread hands instead. He gave each of us a glare as we did so, then burst out laughing and knocked my forehead, "Thank you, guys!"

We smiled at him and then gave each other a look. The gift...

We were currently at Robby's own house, which his parents had bought recently, and now we were walking around and checking every nook and corner of his white, large house. However, we were careful not to give him the gift when his parents were around - not because it's something inappropriate, but because it's something embarrassing. No, it's not the gift that's embarrassing, but it's wrapper.

Sam is the one who bought the gift, which is a black and white digital watch, and I and Alan were putting in our shares of the money of the gift. She'd told me that we'll prepare its wrapper on the way, but unfortunately, we had almost no shops at all on our way and even if we did, none of them had gift wrappers. At last, we fixed on a very embarrassing wrapper; Sam had brought some leftover gift wrapper in case she needed that during an emergency, and well, this was an emergency, because we can't really give a gift without its gift cover. So we just covered the watch carelessly with the leftover piece however we could, trying to bring all the edges in one place and keep it together without cellotape, which didn't work at all.

So, here we are now - We're going to give Robby a gift with a very ugly gift cover. Now, I regret our choice and just wish that we'd bought the gift without any cover at all. The gift cover merely covers it.

"Uhh, so, Robby," I cleared my throat just as Robby's parents left the area and it was just the four of us. Robby turned to me, "Yeah, Rose?"

Alan and Sam both turned to me, Sam having a wide grin on her face and Alan at the near-end of facepalming due to the embarrassment. But I had most of the embarrassment since the gift was hidden behind me and I'm the one who's going to hand it over to him - for some reason, Alan and Sam denied to give Robby the gift and forced me to give it to him instead. They said they wanted to make it 'memorable' for him and that he'll be happy only if I hand it over to him. Don't think I'm dumb; I obviously understood what they meant by that, I just hid it with a very stupid smile.

"Happy birthday again, Robby...," I muttered and took out the watch slowly from behind me, handing it over to Robby and keeping my head down, "and nevermind the wrapper."

I knew he did mind it though.

But unlike what the usual Robby would say, he didn't say anything about it or even stare at the wrapper much. Instead, his eyes lightened up as he pushed past the wrapper and saw the gift in store for him. A watch was indeed the perfect gift for him, because unlike everyone else in class, he never wore a watch to class - he's not financially down, it's just that most of his own things were shared by his brother and because of this, Robby gave his old watch to his brother. We all had our own types of watches - Sam wore a pink dial watch with yellow polka dots, I wore a black digital watch, and Alan wore an apple smart watch to school. But Robby didn't have one, and we obviously felt kind of bad when he was the only one among us who couldn't know what the time was and always had to keep asking others for it.

At least he doesn't have to do that anymore, he got his own watch now.

Robby looked up at me with a wide smile and his eyes covered in so many emotions, "Thank you so much, Rose! And it's cover is not bad, I don't mind it anyways."
